The work of French designer, Olivia Cognet, is all about juxtaposition – mainly inspired by the architecture and natural landscape of her previous home in California. The result? Sculptural shapes, defiant pops of colour and delicate textures. For those who love minimalist interiors, bookmark the stoneware clay ceramics. Elsewhere, her playful glassware will liven up any dinner party. 

For the bathroom cabinet

Nothing says “good host” quite like a well-stocked towel cabinet. Enter Christy England’s bath sheets for a classic approach, or Hommey’s signature striped terrycloth range for something more jolly.  

For the retro collector 

The latest item on my miscellaneous homeware wish list? A retro table lighter, of course. Thankfully, the internet’s vintage market is awash with options and – praise be – they come at very reasonable price points.

There’s hardly anything more welcoming than entering a well-scented home. Whether that’s via Palo Santo, diffusers, oil burners (such as this one by Fazeek) or scented candles, finding a signature home scent is the ultimate finishing touch.

Sometimes, a stool is not just a stool. Case in point? Normann’s recylced Bit stool, designed by Simon Legald, is practical but also eco-friendly (it’s crafted from small bits of recycled plastic), plus, it will add a generous dose of vibrancy to any room.

Interiors collectors, take note: ever since its homeware expansion in 2020, the retailer Net-A-Porter has more than doubled its offering. The newest update focuses on one theme in particular, and that is sophisticated dinner parties. Ceramics, table linen, candles – you name it – by brands such as Laetitia Rouget, Mrs. Alice and Emilia Wickstead have arrived to embellish any tablescape. Cin-cin! 

For treasure hunters 

Pax, Billy and Kallax are all pieces of furniture that we are familiar with. The Swedish interiors behemoth, Ikea, has long informed how most of us live, but we tend to forget that Ikea has been around since the 1950s. Enter the vintage market that is currently unearthing Ikea designs of the past 69 years – we couldn’t be more thrilled about it. 

For the disorganised 

If like me you are prone to dropping anything and everything the moment you step inside the house, this clay tray from hype-wear brand Ronning might just be the perfect addition to your home. Don't worry, you can still drop everything, it’ll just make it look a tad less… messy. 

For linen lovers

Great Objects is a website to bookmark if you’re on the lookout for not-so-mainstream interiors trinkets crafted by independent makers. These linen napkins by the label Chorus are a case in point. 

For the ones in the know 

ICYMI, the A-list interiors designer and architect, Vincent Van Duysen, most famously known for co-designing Kim Kardashian’s minimalist Calabasas palace, has joined forces with Zara Home, creating a capsule collection of timeless homeware pieces that don’t scream high-street (including the price tags). Want to live like TV’s most famous family? This is a great place to start. 

For the wedding gift 

The website Greeks Bearing Gifts is our new secret source for finding unique and inspiring pieces for the home. One such find are these abstract Murano glass tumblers by Stories of Italy – a playful addition to any shelf or tabletop.

For the garden glow up 

With summer in full swing, attention naturally gravitates towards our outdoor spaces, be it a window sill, balcony or garden. TAT London, the interiors news, inspiration and shopping website by ex-House & Garden editor Charlie Porter is no longer an in-the-know industry secret, thanks to her 180k+ Instagram followers. Not only did it include a new drop of vintage finds, but it announced her return to Pentreath & Hall for another IRL pop-up, from tomorrow Monday 4th July until Sunday 9th July.

Rattan, rattan everywhere. It’s not just coffee tables, dining chairs and bed frames that we love, it’s the little accents on drinks trays or bedside lamps that add a touch of French farmhouse or Riviera chic to your everyday surroundings, too. Anthropologie is a current go-to.

Every now and again, you stumble across a gem on social media, and this was certainly the case with painter Lily Baker. Having graduated from Goldsmiths University in 2021, her abstract work is based on an intuitive gestural style which is anchored to the human figure, as she describes it. Some of her paintings, which are available to purchase, are also available as gallery prints. 

For prime comfort

Kassl Editions, the Amsterdam-based brand known for its clean-cut coats, has added interiors to its offering. The Pillow Sofa was designed by Muller Van Severen and comes in the label’s signature oil coated cotton. Take a seat.

Celebrating traditional Italian ceramics, Bettina Ceramica is the ultimate destination for anyone with a predilection for romantic homeware that sings of holidays. The holy water stoups are particularly noteworthy.
