Attention, Arianators! Ariana Grande, beloved pop diva and soon-to-be Wicked star, has dropped the video for her new single, “Yes, And?” Not only is this her first standalone single in almost three years, it’s also a tantalising preview of her long-awaited seventh album.

With vibrant dance and house influences, and hints of Madonna, the new track boldly addresses the tabloid drama that has swirled around the singer. Grande has a history of delving into her personal life through her music – hits such as “7 Rings” and “Thank U, Next” openly tackled her past engagement and breakups. In “Yes, And?”, in response to all the noise surrounding her physique, she sings: “Don’t comment on my body, do not reply – your business is yours and mine is mine”. Serious messages aside, the new song is nonchalant and joyful – perfect for dancing at the club.

In the video, an audience of critics with invitations to an exclusive preview of the singer’s single take their seats within a warehouse setting, surrounded by 3D statue figures – including one portraying Ariana herself with hands covering her eyes. As Ariana’s celestial vocals kick in, these figures disintegrate into tiny fragments on the floor, and the singer, accompanied by dancers, takes the stage to entertain the crowd.

As for the fashions? Ariana wears a chic, dance-appropriate ensemble consisting of a black baker boy cap (which she throws off within mere seconds), a white criss-cross Rodarte bodysuit with long black sleeves, a sleek Alaïa A-line miniskirt, black sheer stockings and a pair of black leather Bloch T-bar dancing shoes.

A release date for Ariana’s new album – which fervent fans (myself included) are calling AG7 – is yet to be announced. Following her 2021 album, Positions, which included chart-toppers such as “34+35” and “POV” and earned her two Grammy nominations, we anticipate nothing less than greatness from Ari.
