Prince William and Prince Harry are apparently finally ready to put their lengthy, yet tight-lipped, feud to bed once and for all.

As many royal insiders speculated in the days leading up to the unveiling ceremony for the statue dedicated to their late mother Princess Diana, the event may have proved to be the perfect opportunity for the two brothers to put their differences aside and reconnect. “William and Harry spent the morning before the statue unveiling looking through old keepsakes, notes from Diana, and bonding,” a source told Us Weekly. “They have absolutely turned a new page in their relationship and have started the healing. Everyone around them was thrilled to see how close they were on the day of the statue unveiling.”

In a joint statement released on the day of the event, William and Harry wrote, “Today, on what would have been our mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better. Every day, we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy.” The ceremony itself was an intimate affair due to the pandemic, attended only by William, Harry, the statue's sculptor and garden designer, members of the committee that organized the tribute, the chair of Historic Royal Palaces, and Princess Diana's three siblings. The rest of the royal family either watched from afar or visited the statue at a later date.

Things have been particularly tense between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family since they stepped down as senior royals and moved to California at the beginning of 2020, but things became even more fraught after their bombshell interview with Oprah earlier this year. Just last month, another source told the outlet that “It’s no secret that the last year Harry and Meghan have been at war with the royals. All is not forgiven, but after all the backlash regarding their interviews — which by the way, the pair have no regrets about — they’re trying their utmost to maintain a good relationship with the queen in order to keep the peace.”

But since Prince Philip's passing and the birth of Harry and Meghan's “very chilled” second child, Lilibet Diana, relations between the two families seem to be growing warmer by the day. Yet another insider revealed to Us that Kate Middleton has been working on getting her husband and Harry back on good terms again in her own way, beginning by establishing her own close connection with Meghan. They explained that the Duchess of Cambridge has been making a special effort to “reach out to Meghan a lot more since [Lilibet] was born” in the hopes of “build[ing] up a relationship,” adding, “The firm has been instructing staffers to reach out more to Harry and Meghan to get them to soften a bit.”
