On Thursday afternoon, TMZ reported that Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle collaborators Jennifer Lawrence and David O. Russell got into “a loud argument on the Boston set” of their latest film, Joy. TMZ cited a witness who detailed screaming that was “ear-piercing and laced with profanities” while a representative for the studio confirmed the yelling, but explained the filmmaker was helping Lawrence get “amped-up for a scene in which she screams at someone.”
A day after the report, Lawrence has stepped forward to clear up the rumor, an impressive feat considering that the admittedly technologically-challenged actress figured out Facebook to do so. Here’s the message that the Oscar winner posted on her official page Friday afternoon.
Written by Russell and Bridesmaids co-writer Annie Mumolo, Joy stars Lawrence as Joy Mangano, the Long Island single mother who became a successful entrepreneur with her Miracle Mop invention. The film, which reunites Lawrence with Silver Linings Playbook co-stars Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper, opens in U.S. theaters this Christmas.
