Parent and Family Registration table

The UTM Parents, Families, & Supporters (PFS) Orientation is for parents, families, and supporters of incoming UTM students to learn more about UTM. It is an opportunity for you to get the information you need to be the best support for your student during their transition to university!

Orientation sessions focus on academic expectations, finance & degree planning, student engagement, student wellness, campus resources and other topics related to the university experience. At the Parents, Families, & Supporters Orientation, you are introduced to the UTM community including students, staff and faculty members. 

While you attend PFS Orientation, we encourage your student to attend orientation for incoming students! More information on new students orientation can be found here.


Parents, Families, & Supporters Orientation 2024 Sessions


The UTM Parents, Families, & Supporters Orientation 2024 will be taking place on August 30th and 31st. Please note that sessions on August 31st will be a repeat of contents on August 30th.

 

Session Details

Professor's Insights on Academic Success

Learn from a UTM professor about what academic and student success looks like, professor-student relationships, and how you can support your student. 

Dean's Fireside Chat

This session will allow you to dive deeper engage with the dean of student affairs and ask questions on ways to be involved in your student's journey. 

Living In Residence

Learn about supports in residence for your student. Please note that this session is for parents, families, or supporters of incoming residence students

Supporting Your International Student

Learn about the supports available to international students at UTM as well as how you can better support them as an international parent/supporter. This session will help you learn more about the Canadian education system, immigration requirements, health insurance, programs available to support your student’s success and more.

Finance & Degree Planning

Learn about key information related to the academic cycle including degree requirements and finances. 

Resource Fair

Chat with our campus departments are excited to learn more about services, programs, and resources available to support your student.
