Octavia Spencer
Octavia Spencer made her film debut in the 1996 drama A Time to Kill, but her big break came years later in 2011’s The Help. Her performance as Minerva “Minny” Jackson earned her the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2012. She also won a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe and a SAG Award. Spencer went on to star in Fruitvale Station (2013), Hidden Figures (2016), The Shape of Water (2017), Ma (2019) and led the series Truth Be Told from 2019 to 2023. Spencer also executive produced the 2018 film Green Book and the 2020 Netflix series Self Made.
Aside from film, Spencer is the author of the children’s book series Randi Rhodes, Ninja Detective. She published the first book, The Case of the Time-Capsule Bandit, in 2013 and the second book, Sweetest Heist in History, in 2015.
