Chief Terrance W. Gainer regretfully announces the departure of the USCP Chief Administrative Officer John M. McWilliam who will be leaving the Department during the first week in August to join Booz Allen Hamilton - a widely recognized strategic management and technology-consulting firm.

McWilliam joined the department in June 2000 when he was appointed as the Director of Financial Management. Just eight months later, he was chosen from among more than 150 applicants as the Chief Administrative Officer. The top ranked candidate by an independent review panel of subject matter experts in the field of administrative management, McWilliam received a unanimous endorsement from the U.S. Capitol Police Board. His leadership skills were honed as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army for more than 20 years.

"John has been instrumental in the reformation of the administration of the Department. His efforts directly contributed to our stellar recruitment efforts, enhanced accounting practices, and modernization of equipment. He will be missed but we wish him well in his new endeavors," said Chief Gainer.

The current Director of the Office of Information Systems, James R. Getter, will be serving as the acting Chief Administrative Officer while the USCP conduct a nationwide search for a replacement. Getter has served with diligence in the capacity of Director since September 1999. Getter arrived at the USCP with 28 years of service in state and federal governments, serving various functions within the Department of Interior in resource management, construction management and resource analysis.
