Valerie Bertinelli confirms sheā€™s dating again.

ā€œIā€™ve met someone. And Iā€™m incredibly grateful for him,ā€ the actress and cooking star told USA TODAY Tuesday while discussing her new cookbook, ā€œIndulgeā€ (out April 2). ā€œItā€™s unlike any relationship that Iā€™ve ever experienced with a man. I donā€™t want to say too much, but I feel incredibly blessed and lucky to have met him, because I wasnā€™t expecting it!

ā€œHe was not on my radar. I was going to die with my six cats and my dog and be incredibly happy doing it. So this came out of left field, and Iā€™m grateful it did. Heā€™s very special.ā€

Valerie Bertinelli says she's dating again, two years after divorcing husband Tom Vitale: "I met someone."

Bertinelli, 63, divorced Tom Vitale, her husband of nearly 11 years, in 2022. On Monday, she shared an old video to her Instagram Stories captioned, ā€œWhen someone asks if Iā€™ll start dating again soon,ā€ in which she adamantly shakes her head and mouths ā€œYeah, (expletive) no.ā€ In the repost, she added, ā€œThis didnā€™t age well.ā€

She canā€™t believe she went public with the relationship, either. ā€œWhat was I doing? ā€¦ I just canā€™t help it. When Iā€™m flipping happy, itā€™s all over me, and heā€™s one of the main reasons.

ā€œI really want women and men to take away that itā€™s the work that you do (on yourself) that can lead you to meeting someone like Iā€™ve been lucky enough to meet right now. This would not have happened three years ago, four years ago, last year ā€•  it wouldnā€™t have. And I feel incredibly lucky to have met him and made a connection with him.ā€

Bertinelli stepped out Sunday at the 2024 Oscars, accompanying Wolfgang Van Halen (her son with Eddie Van Halen) and his wife Andraia Allsop on the red carpet. Van Halen was in attendance to team with Ryan Gosling and Slash on an epic performance of best original song nominee ā€œIā€™m Just Kenā€ from ā€œBarbie.ā€

The ā€œOne Day at a Timeā€ star wore a vintage cream pantsuit by designer Richard Tyler, pulled from her closet. ā€œI wore it at a big CBS anniversary celebration in 2003. Itā€™s just been sitting in its dry-cleaner bag for 21 years.ā€

She raved about Wolfgang Puckā€™s menu at the Governors Ball after-party. ā€œIt was really good! They had mac and cheese that was absolutely delicious, these gold spray-painted chocolate Oscars. They had these really great little sweet and savory tiny tacos with a sweet pickled onion. Absolutely delicious.ā€

But she says she declined the champagne that was flowing at the awards show. She feels ā€œemotionally healthierā€ when she skips alcohol, ā€œbecause itā€™s a depressant.ā€ She hasnā€™t had a drink since Jan. 1. ā€œThat just happened kind of accidentally, because I was doing dry January, then February came along, and now itā€™s March and I still havenā€™t drank, so itā€™s like, oh, I guess Iā€™m not drinking now. But Iā€™m not setting myself up for failure. Iā€™m not saying Iā€™m never going to drink again because I might, I donā€™t know.

ā€œI didnā€™t want to feel the way Iā€™m going to feel after Iā€™ve had a glass of champagne. It was a super-long day, and if I add alcohol into that, I was going to wake up a little depressed.

ā€œIā€™m already sky-high, high as a kite, full of joy, I donā€™t need the addition of alcohol that I used to think would make me happy or release anxiety. I was already feeling amazing. Why do I need alcohol?ā€
