However, we note that Rippling’s payroll services are bundled with the company’s Unity unified workforce platform that includes a range of HR, IT and finance functions. Rippling has more features than many small businesses need and is also more expensive than payroll software from competing vendors, such as Patriot Software and Roll by ADP.

The best payroll software for your business depends on several factors:

  • How you pay employees and contractors (paper check, direct deposit or debit card).
  • The type of payroll reports you need (tax summaries and liability, payroll summaries and deduction and contribution overviews, for example).
  • Whether workers’ compensation will be integrated with your payroll operations.
  • How your staff will access payroll information (e.g., mobile app, self-service portal).

Workday doesn’t publish the prices it charges for its Enterprise Management Cloud suite of applications, but companies using Workday’s Human Capital Management (HCM) software report paying an average of about $100 per employee per year.

Enterprise service provider Apty calculates the total cost of ownership for Workday customers, including training and services (perpetual license and subscription), in a range from $48 per user per year (capped at 500 users) to $160 per user per year for a firm with 5,000 employees.

To delete a Workday account, sign in to the account and open the Settings section under My Account. Among the options for managing your account and privacy settings is one that lets you delete or deactivate the account. 

Follow the instructions in the deletion wizard that opens when you click this option, and then confirm that you want to delete the account. Read through the warnings about losing access to the account and its data, and then submit your deletion request. Workday will send a message confirming that the account has been deleted.
