Whichever university you apply to, you'll need to consider a range of costs, including tuition fees. The tuition fees you pay for your course will depend on whether you are classed as a Home or international student. We've provided some more information below, but please refer to our fee status website if you're still unsure whether you're classed as Home or Overseas for fee purposes.
Tuition fees for Home students
The tuition fee for Home fee status students starting their first undergraduate degree in 2024 will be £9,250 for the year. The government regulated tuition fee for 2025-26 hasn't been set. It may be different from the tuition fee for 2024 and details will be published here as soon as they are available (likely to be in 2025).

Tuition fees support for Home students
Currently, Home fee status students can take out a government loan for their tuition fees. At the moment, payment of this loan can be deferred until you've left university and are earning a minimum salary, at which point the loan is repaid in instalments. Please see the information on government financial support and contact the appropriate student finance award agency for details about tuition fee support.
Tuition fees for affiliated students
Tuition fees for Home fee status students taking a second undergraduate degree (regardless of whether they are taking the affiliated or full course) may be different to the standard Home fee. See the second undergraduate degrees page for details.
Year abroad tuition fees
If your course includes a year abroad, the tuition fee for that year is different. Currently, the fee for a Home student on a full year abroad is set at 15% of the tuition fee for that year in Cambridge (please check the undergraduate tuition fees documents, in related links, for the most recent figures). Year abroad tuition fees for later years haven’t been set yet but are likely to increase annually in line with inflation.
Tuition fees for international students
Tuition fees for international students vary depending on the course you're studying. Most international students also have to pay College fees in addition to tuition fees. See international fees and costs for details.
Fee status for EU, EEA and Swiss students
Since 1 October 2021, there has no longer been one single fee status classification for EU, EEA and Swiss students studying in England. Following the UK Government's amendment of the fee status regulations due to Brexit (see the Education (Student Fees, Awards and Support (Amendment) Regulations 2021), many of these students are now classified as international/overseas students. These students should refer to the international fees and costs page for more details of the tuition fees and College fees they will need to pay for their chosen course.
However, a significant number of EEA (including EU) students are still eligible for Home fee status, subject to them satisfying the legislative requirements (including residency requirements). The following students will usually still qualify:
- Irish citizens living in the UK or Ireland
- Those EEA/Swiss nationals who have been granted settled status or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS)
- EEA and Swiss nationals (and family members) with a right to reside in Gibraltar arising from Withdrawal Agreements
