Russia cannot cope with Ukraine, and its only strategy is to destroy Ukraine. NATO countries should think at the summit in Washington about how to help Ukraine, because in a long war of attrition the country simply may not have enough people.

Jaroslaw Kraszewski, a Polish military expert and former commander of the rocket and artillery forces of the Polish Land Forces, said this in an interview with Ukrinform, commenting on the recent U.S. decision to prioritize deliveries of air defense missiles to Ukraine and redirect orders from other countries to meet Ukraine's needs.

"The U.S.-led world has finally understood after ten years -- after all, the war has been going on since 2014 – that Russia cannot cope with Ukraine. Moreover, Moscow actually has no strategy for Ukraine. Its only strategy is the complete destruction of Ukraine. For the sake of this, since about the middle of March 2022, Russia has been destroying civilian infrastructure, killing innocent people who have absolutely nothing to do with this war, and worst of all, children are dying," Kraszewski said.

In his opinion, now the West has finally understood: "if this kind of war continues -- and there are far fewer Ukrainians than Russians -- the war of attrition may last for one-and-a-half years, and then Russia's total dominance in Ukraine may come."

"I hope that NATO leaders will discuss this topic in detail at the summit in Washington. Europe should hold a discussion and find a solution to the question: what will happen if Ukraine does not have enough people? Not missiles, launchers or planes, but people, because people win wars, not machines," the expert said.

According to him, the Ukrainians will win this war, but the West must help them.

"That's why this decision by the U.S. government is important but very late, and the delay cost many human lives," the expert said.

He called Washington's unwillingness to resolutely support Ukraine from the very beginning a strategic mistake, particularly in the context of U.S. President Joe Biden's statement that "U.S. troops will never set foot on Ukrainian soil while the war continues." Therefore, according to him, this gave Putin a "green light" to do whatever he wants in Ukraine.

"Now we have evidence that, unfortunately, this is not a classic war, but the actions of the Russian Federation for the complete destruction of Ukraine," the Polish expert stated.

On July 8, Russia struck the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv where children from all over Ukraine undergo treatment. Many countries have already condemned this flagrant crime. The UN Security Council will hold a special meeting on this issue on July 9.
