Estonia has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, which includes Mistral short-range anti-aircraft missile systems and missiles for them.

That’s according to the Estonian Defense Ministry, Ukrinform reports.

"Ukraine urgently needs air defense to counter the ongoing brutal onslaught by Russia, and it is also in Estonia's direct security interest to contribute to this together with its allies. We put together the aid package so that it would be of maximum benefit to Ukraine, without the combat readiness of the Estonian Defense Forces suffering and without us being able to restore the necessary reserves as soon as possible," said Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur.

The ministry emphasized that for security reasons, the number of air defense systems transferred to Ukraine will not be specified.

Also, the Ministry of Defense recalled that earlier, the country delivered to Ukraine shells for Javelin anti-tank missile systems, howitzers, artillery ammunition, anti-tank mines, anti-tank grenade launchers, mortars, vehicles, communication systems, field hospitals (including in cooperation with Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Iceland), medical supplies, personal protective equipment (helmets, etc.) and dry rations.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, at the beginning of the year, Estonian President Alar Karis announced that by 2027, Estonia will have allocated EUR 1.2 billion in aid to Ukraine.
