The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained a resident of Odesa who, on the instructions of Russian special services, collected data on military educational institutions and hospitals in Odesa and Zhytomyr regions.

This was reported by the SBU press centre, Ukrinform reports.

According to the SBU, the Russian intelligence service engaged a 19-year-old Odesa resident who was looking for quick money on the Internet and came to the attention of the Russians to obtain intelligence.

Most of all, the enemy was interested in information about higher military educational institutions in Odesa and Zhytomyr regions, in particular, in what mode they operate, whether their personnel have been redeployed, etc.

The invaders also tried to reconnoiter the locations of hospitals and other medical facilities where Ukrainian defenders are treated.

On the instructions of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation, the agent visited several locations every day to find out if there were any military personnel there.

Being near the desired object, the informant observed the perimeter and checkpoints, took relevant photographs and sent the data to his Russian supervisor via messenger.

Later, the agent was sent to Zhytomyr region, where he continued to spy according to a well-established algorithm.

If the coordinates of potential targets were confirmed, the Russians planned to launch missile strikes and attack them with drones.

The SBU detained the traitor while he was conducting additional reconnaissance near the facility in Zhytomyr.

According to the investigation, the suspect was in remote communication with a career officer of the FSB Department in Moscow and Moscow Region. The SBU has already identified him.

For each completed task, he promised the agent a monetary reward, which was to be transferred to the informant's bank card.

The SBU investigators served the suspect a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The offender is in custody and faces life imprisonment.

As Ukrinform previously reported, the SBU CI detained an agent of the Russian Federal Security Service who was preparing car bombings of employees of territorial recruitment and social support centres in Zaporizhzhia and spying on transformer substations in the city.
