UCC academics elected to Royal Irish Academy
Three University College Cork (UCC) academics were recently elected to the Royal Irish Academy (RIA), the highest academic honour in Ireland. 28 newly elected members were officially admitted to the Academy at the Admittance Day for their exceptional contributions to the sciences, humanities, and social science, as well as to public service. The UCC senior academics newly elected to ‘Science’ in the RIA are Professor Maria McNamara, Professor Caitriona O’Driscoll and UCC President Professor John O’Halloran.

Brazil Day Celebrated at University College Cork
UCC welcomed the Brazilian Ambassador to Ireland to campus on 29 April 2024 to celebrate Brazil Day. A series of enlightening immersive sessions were hosted throughout the day to highlight the academic and cultural blend that unites Ireland and Brazil.

UCC’s new riverside walkway named The Cavanagh Way
At a recent event on campus, members of the Cavanagh family officially opened University College Cork’s new riverside walkway, the Cavanagh Way. The walkway is named in memory of the late Tom and Marie Cavanagh in recognition of their extraordinary, sustained and enabling philanthropy, which over many years has had a transformative effect on UCC.
