Read what parents are saying about Our Lady Of Mt Carmel-St Benedicta SchoolThis school mad filthy! My son told me that he’s seen rats and roaches. The building is hot and smells nasty. Theirs no school nurse. I’m putting him in public school. It’s not worth the money.
Posted by a parent on 5/15/2019Although OLMC has faced many challenges over the years I strongly believe in the school. All four of my children attended this school and so did I. Three of the four have went on to complete college and are very productive adults. I don't agree with everything that the school adminstration does but I do beleive collaborations. I am not a firm believer that it is solely the responsiblity of the school to educate your child. As parents you must take a vested interest and supplement what may or may not be taught in the classroom. If you are looking for an extended family and small clasrooms than OLMC is for your child.
Posted by a parent on 11/8/2011Unfortunately this school is definitely below standards in terms of what's expected, parent teacher principal interaction was terrible.I always felt rushed out the door not to mention the incompetent secretary who closely assist the principal. At this school there a lack of sensitivity for children especially in the lower grades.no real extracurricular activities;nothing. As a parent with a child currently attending I can tell u first hand all there interested is in $$$$ sad but true ms Roland the principal seems to not care when her staff makes continuos errors.my child was hurt by a bully shoved spat on and she decided they both were not to participate during recess often times parents educators and staff don't see how this can hurt the development of a child -recess is Judy ad important for a child there energized and focused for the remainder of the day.furthermore it develops socialization skills, perhaps further training for teachers would be a start . In summation don't send your kid here leaving by the end of the summer, very uncaring staff starting with the principal down to ms mouton the secretary
Posted by a parent on 6/12/2011vI dont recomend this school to anyone! My daughter attended this school for 2 years. I was paying for her to attend, meanwhile kids from housing had grants those same kids were bullying her calling her names like white trash and fatso etc when she was'nt even fat !Till this day this has left scars in her and complex that now I have to deal with .Teachers and staff did nothing to rectify this problem! Twice I presented myself to staff and teachers and the bullying still continued for 2 years!!!! Obviously their interest was about the money. I pulled her out and sent her to public school instead ,where there is less kids in a class and staff and teachers are more on top of things and take action when things like this present themselves. The bullying stopped!!!!!! Because there is a mixture of race!!!! My preception of catholic schools has deffinitely changed because of this!!!!

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI began the 2022-2023 school year with high hopes for this school with a stellar reputation that has LONG PRECEDED the current principal. But, my high hopes for my academicaally gifted child soon turned sour when ALL it seemed the school wanted to do was find problems with my non-disruptive and honor roll student EVEN if a problem NEVER existed (and then my child's very respectful and quiet demeanor also magically became a problem in the eyes of the school). There are SERIOUS issues with bullying on the part of both the staff and students as well as EXTREMELY SERIOUS health and safety concerns that the school takes every opportunity to sweep under the rug (and the problems can be traced to the atrocious and despicable behavior by the person in charge of the school). The assistant prinicipals are good but they, unfortunately, came over with the person in charge and must try to often smooth things over. And, whoever gave the review about how the school was ill-equipped to deal with students with IEPS was spot on but the craziest thing is that the school will want to put MORE kids on IEPS for ANYTHING and EVERYTHING (even handwriting)! It seems they want perfect zombies for students and if the child does not fit the nonsense zombie mode...the student is deemed to be a problem! And, what's even wilder is the fact that these "professionals" making IEP and disability diagnosis recommendations are NOT healthcare professionals or, even, at the very least, a PhD in psychology, so please take EVERY opportunity to call them out on their nonsense opinions! And, if a child is unhappy and having his or her spirit broken...PLEASE listen because the child's feelings are VALID!!! In addition, students have gotten screwed by ridiculous amounts of homework/classwotk that is rarely checked along with the unjustified withholding of earned points on tests and report cards (and good luck trying to find out a freaking reason why because the teacher will take no accountability and deflect like the rest of the school administration). Lastly, I have noticed some thinly veiled racist practices by the school (ex: grouping the majority of Chinese and Indian children in classrooms) so be weary if you are a minority or even look like a minority because you may be treated differently as well as rather poorly .Parent Review1y ago - Ps 45 John Tyler

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved here Cali not knowing how the education was in this state and were surprised of how much patience and inclusion they have. My daughter's have never felt so seen by there teachers and being able to explore music and art classes at such a young age. These teachers love what they do and has shown these children that it's much more then just school but a welcoming learning environment to explore.Parent Review2mo ago - Mary J.
