About
Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is a church devoted to the Holy Family. One of Antoni Gaudi’s most famous works, the church is perhaps best known for still being under construction since 1882—with works funded purely by donations. Take a lift to the top of the towers for a panoramic view of the city and marvel at the ornate architecture. The nativity facade and crypt have also been awarded UNESCO World Heritage Status. Skip the line with a pre-booked tour with tower access, or combine your visit with another of Gaudi's work, Parc Guell. – Tripadvisor

Neighbourhood: Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.

    Top Attraction in Spain
I had previous walked around the Sagrada Familia well before my timed admission to soak all of it in, as this is the main reason for me being in Barcelona! I made my way over to the Sagrada Familia entrance for my 2:45PM timed admission. The process was very easy and I am glad I purchased an online ticket the day before, as I bypassed all the other ticket holders who purchased at the box office. There is an audio portion that you can download that takes you through all the view points of the Sagrada Familia. The highlights for me, was the amazing tree like columns that support the structure, the different colours of stained glass especially with the sun shining through giving it a heavenly illumination, the detail in the large bronze doors, the view from the tower, and the overall amount of pristine detail through the church. As for the history of the Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudi takes over the project in 1883 while still working on other buildings. In 1926 Gaudi dies and in 1936 the Sagrada Familia was vandalized during the Spanish Civil War, the plans and photographs were burnt and the plaster models are smashed. However, in 1939, the project continues due in part to the material found in Gaudi’s workshop, giving us what we see today, 135 years later from the start of the project. The attraction is a must do, as it was incredible! I spent a full three hours in total from the time I entered the Sagrada Familia until the time I left, that is how great this attraction is!

Amazing location, not over-rated, book tickets ahead of time
Some might say it's overated, but the Sagrada Familia is truly a sight to behold. You really should visit it, even if it's just the outside. I didn't really get the size of it until I saw it myself. I recommend going on a sunny day at noon for the best lighting inside. The inside is beautiful and the stained glass makes for an amazing decoration. You don't need any other adornments when the walls are painted just from the light passing through the stained glass. The Tower visit is there just for the view you can get from there. Be mindful that you go up by elevator, but you go down on foot, about 400 stairs in a narrow winding down stairwell.

    Great trip to the top
La Sagrada is a picture no matter where you look at it from - the ground, inside, or up top once you've climbed all the steps. Definitely worth visit if you're in this wonderful city. Would be even better if it was fully built!

Exceeds expectations! More beautiful than you can imagine
I studied Gaudi and the Sagrada Familia. I had seen many pictures of it on the Internet and on TV. No matter how much anyone tells you about it, there is nothing that can describe the feeling of being there/experiencing it. It is amazing on the outside, but, when I walked in, all I could say was "Oh, my God!" It is breathtaking. The colors, the ethereal feel, the feeling of being pulled up to Gaudi's interpretation of Heaven. Go in the afternoon. The colors are unbelievably gorgeous. We bought the tickets with the fast-track entry. They were absolutely worth it. We went in quickly. No waiting. We went on a Monday, which is supposed to be the slowest day for tourists. There were still many people there. I think everyone has the right to visit, but I was impacted by the fact that people don't care that this is a church. They walk around, make noise, and even drag their suitcases. That was a bit disconcerting. I recommend taking a tour of the museum once you're done with the Basilica. You will understand its history and Gaudi's work a lot better if you do. If you're in Barcelona, don't miss the Sagrada Familia. If there is one thing you should see in this city, it is this church. It is amazing! You won't forget this experience.

    Not to be missed
This is without question the most beautiful building I've ever seen. You can look at all the photos you want but until you've seen it in person, you haven't really seen it. We did a guided tour (get your tickets early!) and went up in one of the towers. Hands down our favorite activity while in Barcelona, even for the kids.

    Awesome!
Amazing! That word is so often overused but not here. I think Walt Disney took I inspiration for his Disney castle as this was just magical. Loved the glistening mosaics at the top of each tower. Inside we were awestruck. The tower trip was brief but worth it.

    Amazing architecture
We bought tickets online in advance and also downloaded Basilica app which contains an audio guide and explains the history of the Basilica and the ongoing construction. I didn't know what to expect when inside, just knowing how stunning the building is from outside. The architecture is a must see! Can't wait to visit again once it's finished.

    Absolutely magnificent
Do make a booking beforehand to this absolutely stunning piece of work. I had only seen it from the outside before this trip so seeing the inside was shockingly good and even better than the outside. Guided tour or audio guide is recommended. And a bit of advice if you are visiting Parc Guell and are planning to walk from La Sagrada...do it the other way cause it is extremely steep uphill walk from La Sagrada and in the heat it is not recommende.

    Stunning Architecture! Must See!
Stunning place! As an architect, I was very impressed by the architecture and Gaudi’s talent! We got the Barcelona card + Gaudi Bundle in advance, which includes Sagrada Familia and Park Guell and free entry to almost all museums with only €110. The entry a lot need to be booked when the Barcelona card was purchased. This pass did not include the lift to the tower, and it was sold out when we were there, so if you want to enjoy the view from above, you’d better book that separate ticket in advance. Don’t forget to check out the museum close to the exit - good exhibition of the design process!

    What a great birthday present!
I visited the Sagrada Familia for my birthday and was lucky to find tickets. We had not planned to go in because of the long line ups and I visited with my elderly mother but we really wanted to see it. The building is just impressive, so those saying it is not worth it they should probably just stay home and look at a wall all day. This is the gem of Barcelona, and possibly one of the most stunning churches you will ever see. Yes, it is still under construction. It is a huge project to match Gaudi's vision, but this is also part of its charm. I visited it back in 2010, and then again in 2023 and the progress is remarkable. This is a building where you can go inside, stay all day and you will see it change its colors and shades, its breathtaking! My mother and I woke up early on my Birthday and took the metro, with our fingers crossed we tried their booking system (yes, you can only purchase tickets online, so I recommend doing it in advance) We were very fortunate to find 2 tickets for their Spanish guided tour at 9:15am within only 5 mins of starting. There was no line up, it took us longer to book the tickets than actually getting in, so if you do not like line ups, maybe get up early and do not wait until the crowds begin to rush in. We had an unforgettable experience here, do not miss out visiting the most ICONIC building in Barcelona.

This is a wonderful Gaudi designed cathedral. Make sure you buy your tickets on line and get there at the allotted time. The whole experience is very easy if you are organized ahead of time. Too beautiful and unique to out into words - but this is unmissable.

Whilst the architecture has to be seen in person. The actual building is much smaller than I expected.

There are so many small.details to pick out. Although it is very difficult to stand still for more than a minute, with so many people pushing and jostling, you get constantly bumped. Especially by the large groups of really rude Chinese tourists

Arrived in my scooter with my partner. The biggest challenge was negotiating the metro system where elevators weren’t and downstairs were.

You cannot get disability tickets online. We showed up we were warmly greeted. I provided a access card. We were given free admission and instructedin the best access routes throughout the facility. Staff were very helpful throughout an accessible washroom was available and we enjoyed our visit.

Today I had the opportunity to visit this wonderful cathedral in Barcelona and everything I had read about will never replicate the sensation of seeing it for myself. Gaudi and all the other Spanish architects were avant-garde to plan this masterpiece.
Every corner, every rock is filled with history. The museum explains each detail of its unfinished construction and planning.

This was my 2nd visit to Sagrada Familia. I last visited in 2019, & in those 5 years the towers of the Virgin Mary & the 4 Evangelists have been added. The best time to visit is the first morning opening. You'll have about 30-45 mins of prime viewing time before the tour crowds arrive. In order to get tickets at the first opening time, be sure you check the different sites because some sites do not have first opening tickets. I avoid Mondays because Sagrada Familia is closed on Sundays so Mondays are busy. I tried purchasing my tickets directly from the official Sagrada Familia site, but they required some kind of secondary verification on credit card purchases. They claimed I needed to check with my credit card company, which was not an issue according to my credit card company. My debit card didn't work either so I had to find tickets through another site.

The basilica's interior is as impressive as always. The east & west stained glass windows are magnificent & the morning sun floods the interior with greens & blues. But, not to be outdone, the west windows of fiery yellows, oranges & red are just as stunning.

You could take hours studying the exterior of the basilica. There are so many intricate details so if you are able to do some upfront reading of the fascades, it'll be helpful.

This is a must experience. The bus will deliver you adjacent to the basilica. The tour was very thorough as to the long history of the various stages of building. It's beautiful inside and with much architecture and planning. Nice gift shop also if you like to study Gaudi.

An amazing space with amazing light and intriguing features! Pay for the hours guided tour - it's worth someone else's knowledge! The Passion Tower experience was worth it! Lots of small spiral stairs to come down so be prepared! It's not a quiet place but it's an awesome space to take in and admire!

We visited here in early June, I think we booked the tickets a couple of months before. We chose the tickets with the audio guide and tower. It’s very well organised and you can go at your own pace listening the audio guide which you need to download to your phone before you go. The place itself is amazing and well worth seeing. The additional tower tour I wouldn’t bother paying the extra to go up, nothing really to see as lots of scaffolding up there.

Amazing place and well organised. The new app with virtual views is great. Tickets are not cheap but with the app you get the time to get in and avoid lines.
