Turkish Market

About
Sample a slice of Turkish culture in the heart of Berlin—twice a week, vendors set up shop at this popular street market located in the Neukolln neighborhood, selling some of the freshest produce in town. Locals come here to stock up on pantry staples like sundried tomatoes, olives, and goat’s cheese, as well as fruits and vegetables not commonly found in commercial supermarkets. On your tour, enjoy Turkish specialties like baklava, kebabs, and freshly made gozleme—flatbread pastry with mouthwatering savory fillings. The market operates all year round—check the schedule before you head down. – Tripadvisor

The area

Address
Neighborhood: Neukölln
No Berlin neighborhood is more popular with the young and jet-set crowd than the old worker's district of Neukölln. With so many Turkish settled here, the area became known as "Little Istanbul." Today the percentage of foreigners is still high and visitors still frequent the Turkish shisha bars. In the daytime, they also visit the designer shops and sit by the canal in one of the street cafés up and down Westerstrasse or at Maybachufer, having a beer and waving to the sightseeing boats as they float by. But at night, Neukölln is dominated by increasingly young, alternative, and international crowds. This is particularly evident in the northern section of the district where there are many bars, funky clubs, galleries and restaurants. There, the night never seems to end.

Heard it being compared to Istanbul. Whoever said that has never been to Istanbul. Felt more like a shabby backstreet in Amsterdam or Christiania (Copenhagen) with all the weed being smoked around you. On a side note, there were just as much African/Peruvian (?!) around so wouldn't even call it particularly Turkish either.

It is recommended to visit during warmer times as the dripping rain makes it less comfortable. There is good food and interesting items, take your time. it is not very big so in two hours you can cover it at a very slow walk.

Great market. Good quality fish , fruit ,veg and meat. Several fabric stalls ( what I was actually looking for!) with good quality fabrics including a lot of jersey. And lots more.

It’s not as special/big as I expected it to be but it sure is a pleasant break from your usual sightseeing experience. I went there about an hour before it closes so there wasn’t a lot of people which was good. A lot of food to try and nice jewelry to look at!

This is such a great place to pick up gifts...the most beautiful fruits and vegetables. Had a griddle spinach and goat cheese flatbread. The plan was to share with my husband, after one bite I told him to order one for himself. 😉😍
