Fabulous French market. Highlights include the organic seasonal vegetables from Les Jardins d’Olonzac (Vanessa) - at a very reasonable price along with Valerie’s vegetable stall.
A good range of artisanal producers selling lovely wares too.
Finish off with an enjoyable trip to Brocante 34 (opposite Casino) if you enjoy vintage trinkets and treasures.

Tuesday is market day in Olonzac. Top that with a sunny autumn drive through Corbieres golden vineyards and, well, la vie est bon! The market is one of the more traditional French style markets with fresh produce, homemade food, fresh fish and meats, pastries, clothing and bric-a-brac. Highly recommended

Beware the nougat seller Plaisir Gourmand. Very charming pliés you with tasters but the items are priced around 9 euro per 100g NOT per Kg, and he offers large chunks by placing his knife on the wheel of nougat asking if it’s enough! He is not transparent on pricing. I was presented with a 71 euro invoice for two pieces about 2cm thick! He just shrugged when I said it’s very expensive, and said it’s more in the super market. This spoiled my whole experience of Olonzac market.

Unfortunately we had an awful experience at the market this morning. When my wife was buying nuts from the nut seller she was rudely told she had to buy a minimum amount. When she tried to buy the minimum amount she was rudely told she shouldn't come to the market without more money, or words to that effect! At that point we walked away as we weren't prepared to buy from such a rude seller and the man came round and stuffed the bag of nuts into my wife's bag! When I took the nuts out of her bag and put them back on the stall he did it again and again. It's only when I raised my voice and told the man not to touch my wife and threatened to call the police that he backed down! It was really upsetting and sad for us and my two young kids who had to witness it all.

Tuesday is market day in Olonzac. The town seems sparsely populated in late November, but on Tuesdays, that changes. The village is teeming with vendors selling food, clothing, essentials of daily living, and items which make great souvenirs of your trip.

So many olive vendors offer product mixes that are both familiar and new. Main lunch dishes are offered, making takeaway a must.

I spent two hours at the market, often taking a break to sit on the edges of large flower pots in the public spaces. Having optional places to sit would have made my visit more pleasant. But that’s a municipality decision.
If in the area, I would return. Get there early to find a parking space if you are not staying within walking distance.

This was a very good market, but in French terms nothing out of the ordinary. To read the other reviews you’d think it was exceptional

Great markets. Garden fresh food, clothing and handicrafts including jewellery. Foodies’ heaven!
Every Tuesday. Don’t miss if you are in the vicinity. A short distance from Homps for those barging along the Canal du Midi.
Also, good place to meet old friends and make new friends.

Olonzac street market is a MUST each Tuesday morning from 0900 to noon, Very hustle bustle in summer and quiet but complete in winter there's everything from shoes, clothing, jewelry, fabrics and yarns, etc. plus, of course, the food alley which is fresh spectacular. Parking can be tricky so be prepared for a walk. Cafés and restaurants are right there for lunch or a break.
