Amazing service from our waitress Lena! Very attentive and recommended great food and drink. I had the entrecote steak, it was perfectly seasoned and expertly cooked medium rare. Highly recommend!

As soon as we knew we would visit Leipzig again, we made a reservation for this restaurant because we knew how busy it can be, especially during the Christmas Market time. We were a group of 14 persons in total and were seated together at one of the large tables available. Ordering food is always a bit complicated with a large group but the staff was very friendly and professional. We ordered different dishes, but all was delivered for everyone at the same time, which is splendid. The quality of the food was excellent and we enjoyed our dinner very much.

In the basement of the town hall. Has outdoor seating.

I ordered the Burger at €18. I do not eat pork. Our waitress volunteered that they could serve a beef only burger.
This was much appreciated. It was very nice. Our friend ordered the small Pork knuckle at €15. It was really good to see a smaller portion available for those with a smaller appetite. Again it was very good. My husband ordered the Roast Chicken at €22. He was disappointed as it was a bit sinewy.
We drank the local brew, the Gose at €4.20 and the Pinot Blanc at €26.90 a bottle. All the drinks were good.
Service
The waitress was efficient, open to adjustments & friendly. Her English was very good

The food was in the main, very good. Beautiful room with a lovely atmosphere. We would return

Schade, dass wir Sie nicht auch mit unserem Leipziger Backhendl vom Kikok-Hähnchen begeistern konnten. Hierfür verwenden wir Keulenfleisch, welches dann leider nicht wie ein Filet, sondern doch etwas sehniger sein kann.

This is one of a number of brasseries in Leipzig specialising in copious local cuisine, which when it arrived was fine for the price. But it is a big operation, and perhaps we hit it on a bad night, for our food took 90 minutes from order to table . the norm for such food in such places seems to be about 10 minutes. Waiter was very apologetic - blamed the IT system, and did give me a beer as compensation, but even so....

Für die lange Wartezeit bitten wir Sie auch noch einmal auf diesem Weg um Entschuldigung. Es gibt eben leider, leider manchmal Situationen, wo man merkt, dass man ohne Technik und Computer dann eben hilflos und "aufgeschmissen" ist. Gott sei Dank ereignen sich solche Zwischenfälle bei uns sehr selten - ganz auszuschließen sind sie aber dennoch nicht.
Vielleicht geben Sie uns ja eine zweite Chance?! Dann können wir Ihnen auch beweisen, dass wir das besser können.

Leipzig is called a "friendly city" and with this in mind, visiting it ( near the Old Town) and seeing a restaurant nicely located with a fountain we entered it - which turned out to be a mistake, because for 2 evenings we were treated inhospitable and simply uncultured, by the waiter serving the garden .
The first time he rudely pointed out that we did not have a reservation, and the next time that (although we had one) also did not have a table for us.
The manager showed understanding and finally found a table for us, but we didn't want to stay in a place where they were treated guests so inhospitably.
There are plenty of nice restaurants in the area, which in addition to good food also have nice and competent service, so if you want Leipzig to remain in your memories "friendly city" - I do not recommend this restaurant.

Liebe Dobroslawa G, Sie hatten diese "Rezension" bei Ihrem "Auftritt" in unserem Haus ja schon angekündigt.
Wir gestatten uns deshalb den Vorgang wie folgt richtig zu stellen:
Ihr Hotel hatte die Reservierung bei uns online für eine polnische Firma vorgenommen (das können Sie ja aus der Bestätigung ersehen). Wenn Sie beim Eintreffen dann nach einer Reservierung für einen Personennamen fragen und wir diesen nicht auf unseren Listen finden können - sollte das nachzuvollziehen sein. Leider war das für Sie nicht der Fall, so dass Sie sich lautstark und auch mit einer unangepassten Wortwahl bei unseren Mitarbeitern beschwerten. Ihren (reservierten) Tisch wollten Sie ja dann nicht mehr.
Wir sind ein äußerst gastfreundliches Haus und sind immer um das Wohl unserer Gäste bemüht. Natürlich kommt es dann auch hin und wieder zu Fehlern, für welche wir selbstverständlich um Entschuldigung bitten. Für Ihren Besuch sehen wir jedoch keinen Anlass bzw. Grund dafür. Hier stellen wir uns eher schützend hinter unser Team - denn niemand muss sich anschreien und beleidigen lassen.

Called in without reservation 6ish on a Friday.
Got a table for 2.
My wife went to the toilet and the waitress came with menus while she was away and tried to get me to order a drink for her.
I refused when she came back the waitress came again and made some comment about me being afraid of my wife.
Wr ordered food and the waitress tried to reccomend the most expensive wine on the list which we refused and came back 3 or 4 times while we were eating to ask if we were enjoying it.
I eat faster than my wife and she came to clear my plate while my wife was still eating.
When we paid the bill she said tip not included, god knows why we would give a tip.
Not the best experience which is a shame because food and venu great.
The waitress was a very short asian lady with short hair.

The Ratskeller has numerous very positive reviews and it is hard to understand. Their main attraction, the beer, is practically undrinkable. I tried two different sorts and I did not succeed in finishing any of them. For dinner I had the speciality "Gepökelte Schweinshaxe" which is th knee of a pig. It was a huge ortion and could have been for two persons. It was OK, although the meat somewhat to the dry side. Price of 18 Euros is OK. Service at this very busy place was fine, althugh it took some time to get allowed to pay. No one asked for corona pass; strange at such a crowded place.

Not worth it. Both food and service sub par. Was a mix of business with some children in tow. Ordered the kids fish sticks, they were served with spinach that was spooned with a bunch of water, soaking everything on the plate. Then my business guests order was lost... the salmon.. which was over cooked and served after the rest of us had finished.
Drink order was also screwed up. Staff did not have a recommendation... they just looked at us like everything sucked.
Will never return.

Durch einen Fehler im Kassensystem wurde der Lachs nicht mit der normalen Bestellung erfasst und musste nachträglich produziert werden. Schade, dass Ihnen die Entschuldigung/Erklärung dafür am Abend nicht gereicht hat.

This is an archetypal beer Keller, or at least my expectation of one.
Long tables and benches with steins of beer and plates overflowing with food. Service was swift and the staff very pleasant.

Based on the reviews I was expecting a bit more. The beer was fine and the Dunkel was tasty. The Gose beer is an acquired taste. Sour, salty, wheat flavor, bit sweet all in on glass. It was good but not my thing. The ambience is what you come for. It is the classic German beer hall. Loved this aspect. The food, not as good as I have had. I had a Schitzel, frits and salad. The schnitzel while large, the breading was falling off of it and it was luke warm. The proce point i though was too much. 26 Euros for a schnitzel and fries.
All in all, go in have a Gose because it is so unique but I would think twice before ordering the food. Maybe the Pork knuckle was better??? It is a cool venue so at least go look inside.

Unsere Original Leipziger Gose ist ein s.g. "sour beer". Es wird mit Koriander und Salz gewürzt, der saure Geschmack kommt von zugesetzten Milchsäurebakterien. Hier gibt es nur zwei Möglichkeiten: entweder liebt man den Geschmack oder man hasst ihn...
Die soufflierte Panierung bei unserem Wiener Schnitzel ist beabsichtigt und ein Qualitätsmerkmal. Das schreibt u.a. WIKIPEDIA dazu: "Die Brösel dürfen dabei nicht angedrückt werden, damit die Panierung trocken bleibt und „soufflieren“ kann, also das Schnitzel nach dem Backen nur locker umhüllt." (siehe: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiener_Schnitzel).
Natürlich macht unser Erklärungsversuch Ihren negativen Eindruck nicht wett. Wir hätten uns deshalb gefreut, wenn Sie gleich direkt vor Ort bei unserer Servicecrew Ihre Kritik geäußert hätten, als erst jetzt im Web. Selbstverständlich hätten wir Sie dann auch sofort für den "Mangel" entschädigt. We had dinner at 19:30 (reservation). The staff generally spoke English and they were really nice! Food was great and affordable. I had the half duck, perfectly cooked with crispy skin! Beer was also very good, the gose here is more floral than Bayerisch Bahnhof and is delicious!
Only complaint is service can be a tad slow, but it did not hurt the experience!
Final note: the bathrooms are unbelievable when you consider the prices of the food/drinks... really punching above it’s weight in that regard, the complete opposite of a rip off!

Jason and the rest of the staff were kind and efficient. The setting—around the fountain in the Burgplatz right outside the Neues Rathaus (& in its cellar… obviously!)—was delightful on a warm summer evening. The menu is extensive, high-quality, and well-described (I only had wine and the house kräuterliqör, both great), but hope to come back to try their beers.

We went to the Ratskeller with 23 students and very little knowledge of the German language among them. The service (our waiter was Jason) was excellent, very prompt and friendly. The food was extremely tasty and well presented and almost all food came at the same time. We could order from the full menu (which is not that common for large groups). They had a sufficient amount of menus in English, which was very helpful.
Would go back anytime!

Fantastic authentic beer hall beers and food.
Lovely friendly and helpful staff, we arrived at 6pm on a beautiful summer afternoon, so unsurprisingly the huge amount of outside tables were booked. The hostess suggested we could have a drink outside in the sun until the tables were required and then she would find us a table inside for food. We had a beer taster of 6 beers and the hostess added two others to try, fantastic wheat, blonde, dark etc selection.
Glad we ate inside so we could see the interior of this amazing characterful building. Fantastic food and good advice from the waitress on what to order.

Right in the heart of the city centre and down some steps after you go through the big wooden door, is an amazing place full of tables and chairs, room after room of them, merchandise for sale and an amazing array of beers and other alcohol in a packed bar. Fantastic service. Food is amazing and definitely recommended. Can only imagine it sometimes gets very loud and full of atmosphere. Highly recommended for all the right reasons
