About
Get to know the Pilsner Urquell legend! We brewed the first pilsner type lager in the world with its characteristic full taste and limpid golden colour in 1842. It has been a model beer for more than 80% of existing beer brands so far. It owes its uniqueness to high quality ingredients and a unique brewing procedure. Go on a tour of the Pilsner Urquell brewery, and get to know the story of the legend born in 1842.

    Best brewery tour in Plzen
If you are a fan of beer or not, you definitely should visit the Pilsner Urquell factory. You get a lot of information about brewing a beer, all of the Plzen beer history and you can even see the brewery facilities and taste the beer directly from the barrel. Take the tour and expect to need a least 2-3 hours.

A must if you have the time in Prague
Since we were spending a few days in Prague we decided to take a tour company out to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery for their brewery tour. Overall we had a very good experience with the tour. You do get to see multiple areas of their operation in action before going into their cellar for the tasting. No doubt the final 3rd of the tour was our favorite part. You go into their old original cellar for a private tasting. Our tour guide was very good, she spoke great English and was able to command a room. Our only draw back were the large size of the group made it a bit awkward to ask questions.

    Very good.
Ok, we were staying in Prague for 4 days and booked this tour. We didn't realise it was in Plzen...our fault totally. Plzen is actually 1.5 hours away by train and we worked out train there, tour train back is pretty much a full day. We nearly didn't go by we are so glad we, it's a fantastic experience. The brewery is huge, covers that much ground you get a bus to see the building . Bottling plant was awesome along with the numbers of bees bottled. Ended with a tasting in the underground cellars, superb and would recommend it. We really enjoyed it and it was worth the day out of Prague....we went early and explored Plzen.

I really enjoyed my tour of this brewery. The English speaking guide was very nice and helpful. And the free beer we got to try was delicious, just as I had expected.

The only thing I didn't like was how I wasn't able to eat at the restaurant they had in the premises. You needed a reservation. Excuse me for assuming a restaurant part of the same complex as the touristy brewery factory would be the logical place to have a quick lunch right after the tour was over. That being said, it actually got me to visit the very city of Plzen properly instead.

It was an excellent place with a really well-guided tour of the factory and the evolution from old to new. Enjoyed a lot of things about this place and of course the fresh beer is always great.

My husband and I made a day trip from Prague just to visit this place. It was really interesting! The tour was about 2 hours long and full of info on how the brewery started, how it is made and what makes it so different than other beer. I enjoyed the historical angle and especially the end bit down in the tunnels with the big barrels. Fascinating!

This is one of my favorite days . Our tour started late in the day and we had already tasted the beer . But the In depth English speaking tour was a must . So informative . The highlight getting to taste the unfiltered beer from the vats in the cellars ,still making the same quality after all these years .

I really want to give this 5 stars, but there's a few things that held it back.

The positives:
- The facilities are top notch and massive.
- Very interesting and informative tour, even for those already up on the brewing process.
- Shop had some nice gear for great prices.
- The Smart Tour app allowed us to book a Czech tour even though we don't speak it.
- Tour guide was very friendly even to those that clearly were listening to the audio tour in a different language.
- The unfiltered beer was a cool touch and it's a full glass not a sample.

The negatives:
- It's too long. At 2.5 hours, it really could have been done in an hour. A lot of the stops are videos / display boards.
- It's all standing / walking. Given the length, that was rough.
- $17 is steep for what really could be free or $5-$10, especially since you don't get to take home a glass.
- On weekends the bottling and canning lines are not running.
- It'd be nice if there were a tasting room or something. Apparently, the latest Chief Brewmaster added once-a-month experimental brews, it'd be awesome to get to try them in a tasting room.
- The wi-fi onsite was "unsecure" and our phones could not connect. Maybe our fault to not know the workaround but shouldn't be an issue at a billion-dollar company I would think.
- There are some benches by food trucks that you can sit and have a beer, but we really didn't feel like it was a place to hang out and throw a few back. Probably just an American vs. Czech thing since the place was packed

The tour was great! I went by myself and joined a large group and I was able to mingle and talk to people. The tour guide was knowledgeable and very friendly. I learned a lot about the beer and really enjoyed the sample at the end of the tour. I would recommend this tour for anyone interested in beer or trying new things while in Pilzen.

We came to Plzen only to experience this brewery tour and left slightly disappointed after. While the brewery itself is beautiful and it is clear, that there has been put effort into making it a nice and informative experience for visitors, some things didn’t work well during our tour. First of all our guide was almost theatrical in the way she explained, and it seemed as if she focused more on the “performance” and making exaggerated facial expressions rather than on sharing her knowledge. This made it very hard to listen for almost two hours. Second of all, we had been looking very much forward to experiencing the bottling plant in action, which we were promised online when booking the tickets. However, we arrived in an empty factory with all machines shut off, so the guide explained how we could imagine the plant running normally. I think this should have been planned better or reduced the price of the experience slightly.
It was a nice touch that the tour ended in the cellars with a tasting of unfiltered beer, which improved the tour for us.

Our visit to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery was transformed into an extraordinary experience thanks to our guide, Ivana. Her vibrant energy, extensive knowledge, and readiness to engage with our queries made the tour not just informative but also incredibly enjoyable. Ivana's passion for the brewery's rich history and the art of beer making was evident and infectious.

The tasting of the unfiltered Pilsner Urquell was a standout moment, offering a depth of flavor that was both unique and memorable. It's a rare treat that any beer enthusiast should not miss. Ivana's warm and professional approach made the tour a highlight of our trip to Plzeň. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour, and if you get Ivana as your guide, you're in for a special experience.

Learned all about Pilsner beers, sampled beer right out of the barrel. Went down into the tunnels. Learned the different pours and history of the beer.
