Very attractive beach area, although a bit rocky in some places. The sunset views are spectacular. The Kai Bae beach area has some great upscale resorts as well of marvelous small boutique places offering great value.

Perfect mix of jungle and sea, plus quite a chilled out place. Probably one of the best places I've been snorkeling in the national marine park.

My favourite beach on Koh Chang.Walked one end to the other. I did not realise until later but I got hammered by sandflies at the southern end. You have been warned.

Everything ok. Arrived with provate boat.

This is a lovely, quiet beach with golden sands and clear waters. We were the only people on the beach, probably due to Covid restrictions. We did appreciate the scenery and having our own ‘private beach’.

Mostly frequented by Eastern Europeans. Come nightfall, the area is very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful sunsets. Not much of a party atmosphere. Family oriented.

The tide was out when we visited Kai Bae Beach but that didn’t deter from its beauty. A long stretch of sandy white sand as far as the eye could see. Hardly any tourists. It was beautiful.

The beaches at Klong Prao just to the north are considerably better, with some great bars/restaurants on the sand. What Kae Bae beach does have going for it are the young elephants being brought down near the pier to bathe in the sea, much to their delight.

I am staying next door to Kaibae Meechai Elephant Camp right now, and I can see the elephants from my balcony despite the fencing they have up to hide the deplorable condition these majestic creatures endure. The only time the elephants are untethered is when they take the babies to the beach. The adults are chained by either both front feet or all four feet to a cement lock on the ground which does not allow them to even take one step. It’s totally brutal. I walked in and asked a few questions and they assured me the elephants are unlocked at night and free to roam and sleep unchained. NOT TRUE!!! I can see them now and they are fully immobilized. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE if you have any respect or concern for these majestic creatures. The cruelty is disgusting.

I am curious what it cost to rent a small bungalow or apartment on a 6 month lease. I would prefer to have food markets, restaurants, etc within walking distance. My thought is to spend 6 months based in the south and 6 in the north to take advantage of the best weather each offer.
