Top ways to experience Royal Copenhagen - Outlet and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Frederiksberg
Located between Noerrebro and Vesterbro you’ll find Frederiksberg, which is actually a municipality in itself but completely surrounded by Copenhagen. Here there are several fine theaters, from the experimental to the great Det Ny Teater (The New Theater) which specializes in transcribing the great London and New York musicals into Danish, and has done so for several years with huge success. In Frederiksberg you’ll find Denmark’s most beautiful (and expensive) city villas. These 4-5 square miles form the Beverly Hills of Copenhagen. Here you’ll also find Frederiksberg Have (Garden) which sports huge outdoor concerts, from classical to electronic dance music. To top it off, dining options range from cozy family restaurants to some of the area’s most trendy cafés.
How to get there
  • Fasanvej • 5 min walk

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hugely disappointing was expecting to take home a locally made treasure only to find out all the overpriced pottery was made in Taiwan. Additionally this was part of George Jensen Outlet as well and the staff there was condescending and very rude. Not worth the visit.

Our visit was ok but not many bargains in the Royal Copenhagen section with high prices for second quality. We did get a few bargains in Georg Jensen, with good discounts on last years Christmas decorations but in hindsight we would have got better value waiting for the sale in London.

Stopped by to see the home of our wedding china. The store is beautiful with all the current patterns. Hand painting exhibitions take place onsite on some days (we missed them). The china is made elsewhere and old patterns out of production are not available but it is great to see where it all starts and the staff was very helpful.

It was worth the exercise to go to the outlet and it is located in a beautiful area but if you are looking for great prices - save your time and just go to the flagship store.

I especially made a visit to see the outlet but was disappointed with what was on sale. Nothing very special or cheap and not the teacups I was looking for. It is in the same building as the George Jensen outlet so you can visit both at the same time. Better to see the main shops in the city I think. Easy to find as it is the next stop on from Fredicksburg.

You can either buy the porcelain at the flagship store on Stroget (pedestrian mall) in the center of the city (they do have some in store specials) but you can also go to the Outlet store if you are trying to fill a void in your collection. However, the outlet store carries mostly a year or two offerings new or seconds so unless it is a relatively new set you are trying to complement, you probably wont find it here. As an added attraction, the store also has some Georg Jensen pieces that are interesting. The store is just next to the grounds of the Fredericksberg castle. Both locations offer refund of the VAT (national sales tax) on purchases over DKR 400 (about 60 bucks US).

This is one of the best porcelain if not the best, long lasting, nice design. I own many items from the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain for many years, they still look the same as the first day and that was over 20 years.

The prices in the shop are very good, decent discount on RRP, but the range of products is reduced compared to the store in the city centre.
Take the metro to get in the area, then a 10 min walk to the door.
Happy shopping....

This store features collections of Royal Copenhagen porcelain and has a large selection of beautiful plates and teapots, cups etc that make great gifts and souvenirs of a visit to Copenhagen. It can get expensive but there are also some very nice and affordable items as well.
The staff is helpful and they giftwrapped my purchases and packed them for travel.
A must when visiting Copenhagen

We ventured in to the Royal Copenhagen store in City Hall Square but glad we made the effort to find the outlet store. Caught the free Carlsberg bus to the Copenhagen Zoo and walked a pleasant 15 minutes down the road and around the corner to the outlet store.

The selection was very good if somewhat limited in their firsts and top line range ie:Flora but enough still to provide choices. Access to some Christmas stock out of season and 50% plus discount on many items.

Staff speak excellent English but do check your receipt for correct pricing and especially if given extra offers.

Bonus 1 = recovery of tax with certification available for visitors

Bonus 2 = Georg Jensen upstairs outlet store.
