Wonderful Family Holiday

Reviewed 4 weeks agovia mobile
My partner, son and I had a wonderful week at The Royal Andalus.

Pros-
Lovely room-We had a sea view room and had requested a quiet room. I’d seen other reviews about some people being given rooms right by the entertainment and I can imagine this would generally be a noisy area. Request a room at the end of the corridor and over looking the smaller pool on the other side of the hotel if you appreciate peace and quiet. The view was beautiful. If I was to stay again I’d pay more for a beach front room.

The hotel in general is clean and well looked after. The food was varied and of a good quality. We weren’t hungry the whole week! Most of the staff were friendly and our son loved the evening entertainment.

The kid pools were great for our little boy- at the start of the week when the weather hadn’t been that good before we got there, the pools were a little cold but by the afternoon of all the other days they were warm enough. The quieter pool round the other side is nice if you fancied a more relaxed atmosphere.

Cons- There weren’t really any cons but by the end of the week the hotel was really busy so getting a sun lounger could be a bit tricky. It was the classic situation where beds would be empty most of the day with towels left on them- they said that towels would be removed after 45 minutes but this was never enforced.
We ended up just going down to the beach a lot which is beautiful and perfect for little ones to play on.

All in all it’s a lovely hotel in a beautiful location for a family holiday.

Staying in this hotel I attempted instead of availing of my all inclusive lunch to have a snack instead in its Star cafe. Misnomer. I went there at 1.30pm. Big mistake. I attempted to order a sandwich labeled 5.90 euro. I was told nicely by the kind lady serving me ( not her fault) that the whole top tier of the food cabinet was not included in the all inclusive. I ordered off the second tier a much smaller roll. On asking for it toasted I was pointed to a self service toaster thingy. I also asked for an americano to be told the coffe machine was not in use as it was after 1pm but I could get one in the lobby bar instead. This I did but on return my roll still was sitting there not having been toasted. I took it and reverted to going instead for a salad in the dining room. It may be a small thing in anotherwise good hotel but I was left feeling that maybe this might be a place my custom isn’t valued. It’s my second time here to this lovely part of the world but I may try some other hotel on the strip which will serve coffee to a customer in their cafe through the day. Also signs in cafe forbid me from bringing my food outside despite table and chairs placed outside. Felt a bit like boarding school to be honest. Who thinks these types of signs are acceptable ?

This hotel has a great location , is clean and staff are nice. Pity management have such silly rules.

Dear Aileen,

Thank you for your review of your holiday at our popular 4-star Iberostar Royal Andalus establishment.

We regret that we were unable to satisfy you completely on this occasion. Our Star Café service is available until 13:30, coinciding with the opening of our buffet. After this time, coffee is served in the lobby, which is adjacent to the café.

Furthermore, our all-inclusive offer at the Star Café includes a diverse selection of items such as turkey and cheese sandwiches, bagels, pastries, fruit and more. We also have a premium snacks section. We are sorry for any inconvenience this caused, and we will relay your comments internally for consideration.

On a positive note, we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our beautiful location and appreciate your compliments about our hard-working staff. We hope you will give us another opportunity to welcome you back and thank you once more for your review.

Best Regards,

We have been coming to this hotel for the past 4 years, we had a lovely time at our favourite hotel in the Sancti petri area. The staff were very welcoming as always, big thanks to Estrada and Marin for making our stay that extra special with top quality service. We will be coming again next year!

This could be a really nice hotel with a few improvements. My 3-star rating is actually based on few but important things I found unsatisfying. First of all, noise is a theme here.
If you get a room near the large lobby area, you will need a good heart for sleeping, otherwise you will find it pretty hard to rest. I got one the first night, and had very little sleep. The problem is loud music from the lobby or talking and noisy walking in the hallways. After the first night in this room I got another room far from the lobby and bar, and it helped. However talking in neighbouring rooms is heard through the overy thin walls.
What should be done? New soundproof doors from the rooms to the hallway and sound insulation between the rooms. The second ting that needs improvement is entrance to the restaurant, where you have show your little tag you get around your arm wrist. This little control by the entrance can create a very long line of people trying to get something to eat.
On the good side is the food in the large buffet restaurant. The food is really excellent and this is the biggest asset of the hotel. Furthermore service from the staff is fine.
Would I want to return? Presumably not, but likely if I knew I could have a quiet room.

Renovated and tastefully decorated hotel. Lovely suite with side views, not sure why bathrooms don't have a main door anymore, but that's style I suppose.
Food was OK, but very overcrowded restaurant which unexplainable had an area closed. Restaurant staff were quick and polite.
Couple travelling with us changed room 3 times due to privacy and views.Reception staff helped as best they could, but could have done better.
Tip: use their interactive map to check location of room before you book it.
Excellent location for a fabulous beach.
