Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort is a true gem compared to other resorts I've visited!! We have been there several times both as a group of couples and with our whole family. Our most recent trip was during the pandemic and I can't say enough about how committed the staff is to the cleanliness and safety of the environment and its guests. They were constantly cleaning, the staff wore masks, and the housekeeping process was thorough. It was the first time that we felt normal in many months. The staff themselves are so kind and genuine, always saying hello and greeting us with smiles. Many of them remember us from trip to trip and call us by name.
The beach area is beautiful and the snorkeling and paddle boarding are great! Thank you German and Christopher!

The service we had during the trip was exemplary both on the beach and in the restaurants.
In the buffet restaurant, special thanks to Aurora and her smile as she makes our morning eggs and to Jesus, Otilio, Carlos, Adriana, Leo, Araceli, Wilbreth, and Orlando who attended to our
every need either during the day or in the evening.
During the day at the beach we also had phenomenal service. Jesus took care of us most days with his great attitude and smile but Marbella, Abigail, and Ducelli were also around helping us as well and are fantastic. We can't forget our great bartenders: Wilbert, Christian, Oscar, and Felipe!
In the evenings we would always meet up with our group and have cocktails before dinner in the lobby bar where we had exceptional service from Blanco, Karina, and Diana. There was always some kind of musical entertainment as well.

This year we really enjoyed the specialty restaurants. A special thank you to Amber, Holi, Erika, Jose Luis, Maximiliano, Randy, and Leonardo.

The food was excellent in all areas and we enjoyed wonderful snacks during the day at the Sushi bar and Pelican bar. So many options!

None of this could have happened without Joel, who sets up our trips, makes our reservations and attends to whatever else we need. He has helped make this like a second home to us!

I recommend visiting this little gem whenever you get the chance.

First timers and will be our last, to be fair this was during covid and the resort may not have been to its full potential.

We stayed only 1 night out of a 5 night stay. The resort itself is beautiful with the lush greenery, and well maintained. We went to dinner that evening after a couple of drinks at the bar, for us the margaritas were fair at best. We went to dinner shortly after the drinks. We were seated at a table after we were told the one we wanted wasn’t available, ok... ordered an appetizer a drink and our main dinner, an hour and 10 minutes later still no appetizers or dinner nor asked if we wanted another drink, this is with only maybe 10 tables filled with couples. In between that time another couple was seated at the table we first requested, ok?

We left the restaurant, went back to the room and ordered room service, which was good food delivered in about 20 minutes. While in the room we received a note from the resort that the main pool would be closed all week, due to repairs.

The rooms were damp, even with the AC on, I mean everything was damp. Papers, clothing, beds, money etc... it was very uncomfortable. We decided to leave that next morning.

On a side note the FB Akumal Bay private page monitors their posts by an employee of the resort where you cannot post unless it’s approved by him. If you look at the comments not one negative comment is posted, not a one. Which isn’t truthful at all... and unfair to prospective guests. Posts aren’t put up for a day later or more, so what’s the point?

We thought we would give it a try, due to the posts on the FB site, only to find out negative comments can’t be posted... wish we would have known. No refunds were offered even after only 1 nights stay.
