The ratings and number of reviews we saw led us to this spot. One of our friends is vegetarian and upon review of the menu we felt that this might not be the right place. However; once the owner visited our table, we learned that “anything is possible.” I don’t like writing reviews and I very seldom do. But, we left this place totally satisfied by the food, the service, and impressed by the staff. If you can dream it, they can create it. But listen to the owner’s recommendations for what is possible to meet your dietary needs or taste pallet and you will not be disappointed. My group consisted of 4 people all from places where we know good food - New Orleans, Louisiana; Washington, DC; the Caribbean, and Huntsville, Alabama. Enjoy.

Thank you for your opinion, we are very happy that you would like our restaurant for us it is very important that vegetarian customers can enjoy our gadgets, unfortunately without a few moments but always outside the menu we have about 5 dishes off the menu and 5 on the menu!

The food and service here is top quality! The slight journey out of the centre of Barcelona is well worth it. Toni, the owner, is a great character and will describe the specials of the day in detail. Among other dishes, they do the classic tapas dishes really well and sometimes with a twist. The jamon Iberico is to die for. I'm already looking fwd to my next visit.

Exceptionally amazing restaurant! All details are impeccably treated, starting with the magnificent service from Fernando, who welcomed us to the place with VIP treatment. When ordering and throughout the stay, it is possible to have a very intimate contact with the environment and with the chef, who makes a point of treating customers in a personal and welcoming way. When tasting each of the dishes ordered, we were really amazed by the presentation and the incredible taste of exactly everything! Very well balanced dishes of flavor and aroma! a striking and incredible experience that we had, my wife and I, at Casa Varela. We will definitely be back every time we are in Barcelona.

Thank you to Casa Varele Team for the great time I had!
Chef welcomed me and explained menu. I chose several tapas: some traditional and other fancy. All dishes were nicely presented and taste was GREAT.
They give good advise regarding wines and are careful with allergy.
All safety measure are well observe for covid.

Hidden gem in Barcelona! Customer service was superb and the food amazing! A real treat that awakens all the senses. We had the steak and potatoes paired with a red wine. Ended the night with a cup of coffee and the torrejas with ice cream for dessert.

LOVED this restaurant. Came recommended by a work colleague and was a 10 minute walk from my hotel (Renaissance Fira). The neighborhood seemed a little unsafe as we were walking but this was a gem in the middle of it. Restaurant inside was super charming but we sat outside underneath their decorated tent. Had one of our Spanish speaking colleagues order tapas style and we shared everything. Everything we ate was delicious. Service was excellent and very attentive.

Excellent food, really welcoming staff, good wine. We were staying 2 minute walk away so was very convenient but is close to a train/metro stop if you're staying further away.

It’s not easy to find a good restaurant in the area but Casa Varela was a good find. We were seated outside on the plaza just across. Mediterranean food, it was good but not exceptional. The service was good.

Only downside is the digital menu cards.

Went here on the last day after a 3 days long echibitio at Fira Barcelona and this was a really lucky find. Small place but really great quality food that was well presented and tasted even better. The owner suggested a mushroom risotto and it was heavenly. the owner very friendly and made sure we were comfortable and even arraged for a taxi to take us to the airport. Will definitely go back here the next time I am in Barcelona.

This small place is just in the middle of the business district at a 5 min walk from the Renaissance Fira hotel. It’s small, but huge if it comes to dining experience...
Just experience it yourself but if I have to prepare you on what to expect, the following words are popping up:
-Kitchen art
-Perfection
-Barcelona on its best
-Passion for food
-Love for wine (let the owner recommend a bottle, you won’t be dissapointed)
-Must visit
-5 man kitchen brigade
-Only 8 tables
-Must eat: tartare, mussels, sardines, Iberico
Do make a reservation!

4 in our party and we arrived just a little early without reservation.
The owner, Johnny... Welcomed is but told us to relax as they were not ready. They start service at 8.15pm
We had drinks and finally asked him for recommendations.
The food was superb.
We had 6 or 7 plates of beautiful food. Nicely presented and most importantly tasted fantastico.

My husband and I enjoyed such a lovely and delicious dinner. Chef and staff took excellent care of us, his recommendations on the menu were on point. His love of food can be tasted in the meal and seen through the presentation. Would recommend as a dinner venue for any out-of-town person. So busy enjoying the meal, that we didn’t take many pictures of the food:-)

A very small restaurant far from touristic paths where you will enjoy Catalan, Mediterranean kitchen while drinking very good wines. All the dishes were very good, the owner and waiters very friendly.
Doesn't matter if this is not in the city center, it deserves your time.
