We were looking to book for lunch as there would be seven of us to accommodate. I came across this cafe with excellent reviews so booked for lunch. Easy to find well sign posted off the Main Street. However I didn’t realise it was up to flights of stairs, we had a small baby in a pram and I have limited mobility. I managed to climb the stairs and we safely took the pram upstairs. There was some slight confusion over the booking but after a few minutes we were shown to our tables. Slightly disappointed to see we were on two separate tables but didn’t make a fuss and sat down. Absolutely stunning view out of the window of the boats and the castle. After waiting 10 minutes we eventually asked for menus, I wouldn’t say it was over busy, but the staff appeared to be rushing around. Our drinks were bought to the tables in plastic bottles, we had to ask for glasses and also ice which they quickly bought. The meals were served and looked very fresh with large portions. Several of us ordered the fish & chip meal served with bread & butter and tea or coffee. The fish was delicious with light crispy batter, and we all agreed it was the best fish we had tasted. It wasn’t until we had eaten our meals that we remembered about the bread & butter. We waited to see if anyone came to ask for our tea/coffee order which they didn’t. As we had children with us who were all very eager to go crabbing and eat ice creams we asked for the bill. The cafe was taking part in the special government offer which was an excellent saving of £50. I think if we have had to pay the full price then maybe I would have asked for the rest of the meal. We would definitely visit again maybe not with all the grandchildren so we could enjoy the views. Our meal was delicious but would have been better with B&B etc I don’t like drinks in cafes out of plastic bottles but this is my own personal opinion. Fish best ever tasted. Look forward to visiting again.

We were looking for the Harbour View cafe. It appears (unless we’ve missed something) that it’s changed it’s name. After reading some excellent reviews we decided it would be our next brekkie stop. This place is constantly busy but turnaround is fairly quick. We had a coffee outside while we waited for our table. And the wait turned out to be only about 5 mins. The breakfast menu was quite varied but we both went traditional. My hubby had the big breakfast and I had the vegetarian. We ordered an extra round of toast. The plates came loaded with food. We managed to eat everything but that was us done for the day. We walked 10 miles and were still too full for dinner before we left. Hubby (who’s pickier than you’d think) was happy with his brekkie. Mine was also good. My only issue and this is just a personal preference. But I prefer a Quorn or Linda McCartney sausage with my brekkie. Whereas this one was the vegetable kind. The staff were busy but helpful and friendly. The breakfasts including the extra toast and juice came to just under £20. (I’ve not included our earlier coffees in this). And it was the best value so far. I have a photo of the breakfast but it won’t load. This is a constant issue for me with trip advisor 🤷🏻‍♀️

Called here a few times in the past for the excellent breakfasts. We arrived in Scarborough on New Years Day lunchtime wanting a light snack so we decided to call in the Harbour View cafe. We were surprised to see that it had changed its name and internal seating etc.. It was packed and the fish and chip meals being served looked particularly good, but only requiring a light snack as we were dining in the evening, we opted for the mushroom soup. Excellent tasty soup and bread, plus quick efficient service.Glad to see the food quality is as good as it ever was and look forward to returning.

We were looking forward to a lovely meal having been to the cafe in the daytime, how wrong were we! I ordered a Rib Eye Steak and when it arrived it was only luke warm, so I sent it back to be warmed up, It reappeared and was the same, not good enough when it was £15.95. The lady who seemed in charge was very friendly until I asked for the steak to be warmed, then changed., she didn't want to know anymore, very unprofessional, May I say the young lad who dealt with us was so polite, helpful and most apologetic, far more helpful than the woman!!, he offered us some free sweets to compensate the luke warm Rib Eye Steak, we accepted the sweets, then there was no vanilla ice cream!, How are you to suppose to enjoy an evening out when it is rubbish. The meals are very expensive on an evening, and after all it's a cafe not a restaurant, We are local people and will NOT be returning anytime soon.

We found this gem of a place on the recommendation of a friend. So pleased we did. We walked in on spec, not having booked, but as it was mid afternoon, we managed to get a table. Any later and we would have been disappointed. As it’s a bit off the beaten track, it wasn’t as busy as those restaurants/cafes on the Harbour front. The menu was very good and varied with something to suit all tastes and at reasonable prices. We went specifically for the crab, and we weren’t disappointed. We opted for simple crab….it was superb….and washed down with a bottle of Pinot Grigio. The views of the harbour were good….a different perspective being able to watch the fishing boats coming in and unloading their catch whilst eating fresh crab that had been caught earlier! I would happily recommend a visit to The Lookout on the Pier to anyone wanting a delicious simple dressed crab at a very reasonable price. You won’t be disappointed.

Went in for breakfast. The waitres took us to a table outside brushing past other diners. The table was not cleaned. After about 15 mins we had to fetch the waitress to order. The breakfast took ages to arrive and did not arrive with the drinks we d ordered .We waited another 10 mins and went to remind her about the drinks. The food was OK but expensive and the service was rubbish and so was the hygiene. We won't be back.

Having read some great reviews, we dropped in to see if they could accommodate us for lunch and were delighted that, although fully booked, we were offered the high seating/counter area. The restaurant smells delicious as you approach and once inside, it’s clear that most people are eating shellfish in some form. We happily joined in, ordering seafood chowder, langoustine in garlic butter, and a warm shellfish platter. The platter was quite expensive but definitely worth it with generous portions of a variety of shellfish. Th accompanying chip and crusty bread were also tasty. We spent a very happy half an hour cracking open langoustine claws and covering ourselves in garlic butter. Had we not eaten so much, we would definitely have sampled the delicious looking cakes on offer too. The service was good, the ambience pleasant and the views excellent. This was the high point of our stay in Scarborough and I would strongly recommend it to any seafood lovers.

I have been saying for ages that Scarborough needs a restaurant that takes advantage of local produce in a healthy way instead of another fish and chip shop. Been to lookout on the pier today for the fourth time and delighted to see fresh crab (not spoilt with marie rose sauce as isnormally the case in some places) , and chowder on the menu. It was smoked haddock, salmon and prawn chowder. It was by far the best chowder I had ever tasted and well worth the money. I heard othwr customers complimenting the chef on it. Absolutely gorgeous, Long may it stay on the menu . I dont nornally write reviews but todays food definitely deserves one.

A wonderful little restaurant serving, literally, some of the best seafood I've ever eaten at crazily affordable prices. Staff are really friendly and efficient and the overall ambience is both informal and quirkily easy going. We walked in without booking and were asked if we minded sitting outside, on a tiny terrace overlooking the harbour. We didn't mind at all! Service was very quick and the food AMAZING. We saw other diners tucking into a shared seafood platter and had to have one. Prawns, shell on and off, langoustines, mussels, whitebait, scampi. All delicious and with a complimentary jug of water for the table. Thirty quid the lot! Thank you for such a fabulous lunch.

This is a restaurant to search out!!!! Its was recommended by discerning friends and we were not disappointed. We visited for a wonderful scrummy breakfast and returned in the evening for traditional fabulous fish and chips. The food at both times of the day was absolutely excellent. And what staff- they are a delight-cheerful, smiling, helpful, courteous. Encouraged by the energic, enthusiastic owner they clearly want to make your visit memorable. The location is special with views from the harbour to the castle; it is managed and run by staff who enjoy their job and serve exceptional food. It's a place to relax and enjoy your visit. It's a Scarborough 5 star venue. Marian and John ( Derbyshire)

We just happened to be walking along the harbour and spotted this cafe in time for a late lunch. It was busy but tables well spaced apart. My husband ordered a crawfish plate and a crab salad for myself. We had a bit of a wait but once the food came it was worth it. My husband found the crayfish fiddly to eat but enjoyed them anyway. The crab salad was lovely, served in the shell over a really well presented salad, including a lovely red cabbage salad. Compared to the 'samey' resurants along the front this was a perfect relaxed cafe with friendly and attentive staff.

Having walked 10miles from Filey to Scarborough we just fancied a lunch of fresh fish with a lovely bottle crisp white wine. We had all but given up on finding somewhere when a friend arrived and led us to this place. We were not disappointed! It was the perfect place. Right on the harbour it had great views The choice of fish was fantastic - from homemade fish fingers to lobster, all locally caught. The langoustines I had were cooked perfectly served simply with crusty bread - and yes we got our bottle of crisp, white wine. Fantastic value, it’s a must when visiting Scarborough.

We are locals and visit for coffee 3-4 times a week, which is delicious. Occasionally we eat lunch there and have always found the food excellent. If we have visitors we very often take them here for breakfast which is usually exceptional. There is a good selection of vegetarian options and of course seafood. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. It is well worth walking past the fish warehouses and lobster pots to get there, the only negative for the less mobile is there are steps to climb to get there.

We had a wonderful breakfast in this fantastically located cafe this week. Avocado and poached eggs on toast and vegetarian breakfast were both perfectly cooked and presented. Lattes were hot and tasty. Service was efficient with a friendly smile. Covid aware and track and trace register. If you want a delicious breakfast with a stunning view, this is the place to go.

We finally managed to get a table at this very popular cafe for breakfast during a recent stay. My husband had the large breakfast and I had smoked salmon, avocado and poached eggs on toast. Everything was delicious. The cafe is dog friendly and no-one bats an eyelid if they've just had a dip in the sea. Very relaxed, great views and great food. Strongly recommended.
