what is the security like in and around the hotel?
is the hotel secure and safe.
Yes no worries - always staff around and fab location
I agree. The hotel itself felt quite safe (except be careful, the bathroom floor tiles are slick and made me take a fall). The facing street, La Rambla, is the beating heart of Barcelona night life and the pedestrian taffic doesn't let up until quite late on any night of the week. There's a police station a few doors away.
The one rampant problem in Barcelona is that there are pickpockets everywhere, so plan to keep your goods in front of you--your backpack will wind up empty if on your back! I use a small shoulder wallet and I trained myself to keep my hand on it at all times, except when dining I'd hang it between my legs.
Try to get a room that faces into the courtyard to avoid street noise. Definitely pay for their breakfast buffet, one of the best I had in my 35-day European trip. There's a Gaudi around the corner that's nice to see with no lines, unlike Sagrada Familia.
