- Andy BKensington, Canada23 contributionsGood place, good people, good tour, out-of-the-way location! We enjoyed our time at El Coro and greatly appreciate what they are doing (preserving crocodile habitat and rescuing crocs). They are in a race against resort development all around them so they depend on visitors and visitor fee/donations to help them on their mission. I view the entrance fee more as a contribution to help with their mission, so I was happy to pay it. A taxi can get you here, but we rented a motorcycle from Cool Rentals PV which made it a fun and easy way to get to lots of out-of-the-way places like this, the zoo, and the botanical garden.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten December 17, 2023
- armstrongest15 contributionsGreat little croc conservatory worth visiting. What a great sanctuary. Our tour guide was Cesar and spoke perfect English. We walked from the main road with kids. You can actually take the bus from PV or bucerias. It stops just outside the bb inn. Tours are 300 pesos (adults) $200 pesos kids and they take credit cards. Cesar even called a cab for us after. One croc is 70 years old!!! You could tell Cesar’s passion is conservation. Maybe call ahead and see if Cesar is working for a great tour. Although people may be disappointed that this isn’t a zoo as they raise and release animals. Babies aren’t common but we saw a resident 3-year old Croc. You will also see Coati, Macaws, and some piglike animals that are apparently more terrifying than Crocs.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten December 23, 2023
- paixfulLethbridge, Canada516 contributionsA must see! Favourite attraction in the areaHands down the best part of our visit to Puerto Vallarta. Our tour guide took so much time to share with us the stories of the animals there and how they interact with the environment here. We also saw where crocodiles are released when they can be. Definitely worth the tour price. Plus this organization is self-sustaining with tour fees keeping it operational and they are doing important work. Great for eco-toruism and any traveler, and even for locals, to gain a good understanding of the environment in this area and how to reduce impacts on plants and animals. Definitely a must-do experience!Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten December 29, 2023
- Kathy JNapanee, Canada7 contributionsWhile the visit if you are a lover of reptiles and some native species.Interesting little place. If you are a critter person, of course you will enjoy it. Yes, it is small, but you still get some fun facts. It is not an easy job trying to do some good for species that aren't the warm and fuzzy critters.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten February 13, 2024
- Michelle B11 contributionsAmazing experience! My husband and I opted for the guided tour and it was worth every penny (peso)! Our guide Cesar was extremely knowledgeable not only about crocodiles, but also about conservation, biodiversity and the local ecosystem. We spent a couple of hours there and encourage others to do the same. This is a cause worth supporting.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten February 25, 2024
- Rorie R2 contributionsAn experience of a lifetimeFantastic experience! The guide was knowledgeable and gave us the names and history of the individual birds and crocodiles. It’s a bit of a drive down a dirt road, but worth the trip. You will learn about the loss of natural habitat for crocodiles and other wildlife, and you will be impressed with the care given to animals that were injured and would die without the support of the sanctuary staff.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten March 10, 2024
- Velma F2 contributionsBest Value for your peso! The best 200mx you can spend! This tour was educational and fun. Not too long and with the set up you weren’t standing in the sun much at all. I will bring my visitors to this sanctuary for a tour, it’s a great way for them to see local wildlife and support conservation of our beautiful Nayarit.Visited March 2024Travelled with friendsWritten March 29, 2024
- Georgia S1 contributionUnreal experience- a must visitAfredo was the best tour guide!! Went into so much detail about the animals and why they are in the sanctuary he is a vet and genuinely wants the best for these animals and to rehabilitate them the best they can. Worth paying 100 pesos more for the guided tour. Honestly an unbelievable experience felt like I was in Africa in the depths of nature it was breathtaking. Road in is bumpy but does not at all ruin the experience. Worth going please support this local sanctuary and donate!!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten April 1, 2024
- Natalie D1 contributionInspiring and informativeI took my 2 grandsons ,age 8 and 9, and they found it to be the best experience of our trip. Juan was wonderful, patient and informative. He asked great questions of the children to inspire their interaction and quizzical minds. He respected their responses, even when wrong and challenged them to think and certainly to learn.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten April 17, 2024

Learned a lot about the different types of crocs as well has the other animals that live there. Would recommend to all. Take the guided tour if you are English speaking. Most signage is in Spanish, but you get a lot more out of it with a guide.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 11, 2024

We visited on July 3, 2024 - be aware that the prices quoted on local tourism pages are not accurate - my husband had to 'sit out' as we bought cash based upon old information - use only the official site for pricing! It is also down a long, dusty, road so prepare for bumps to get there. Once there, the place is truly an interesting experience - and worth a visit. We did not do the guided tour (again, we hadn't brought enough money!) - but believe that would have been very informative.

The sanctuary is wholesome and personal. Make sure you get the tour. It is immediately clear that they truly care about the animals and every animal had its own backstory for how it ended up in their care. You’ll learn about each species as well and we learned a lot on the tour. Make the trip, and your cab driver will likely prefer to wait at the sanctuary while you do the tour (just ask them).

An amazing place. Our tour was led by a veterinarian who is knowledgeable and clearly cares about the animals he is helping. Saw several crocodiles as well as iguanas, macaws and other rescues. They are working hard to protect the mangroves and ensure survival of the animals.

I will be in this area next week and need to know how to get a taxi to take me here? We are staying at Villa Estancia where I know they will have taxis. will the local drivers know the area and the bad road etc?

The taxi driver, who drove us from the Mega grocery store, had not known about the sanctuary. It was his first time driving to the location. However, the ‘big golfball’ on the highway which is a road marker for the side road exit is known by everyone! It is a marker for the Flamingo Golf Course. And although the road is not paved, it is still very drive-able... and is just a bumpy ride. You will be able to find it easily.

Hi, we are coming to the Rui Palace pacifico later this week. Have you any idea how long it would take to walk to your park please. I have read that from the highway you go up a rough road to the Park, could you tell me how long is this rough road. Looking forward to seeing the crocs in real life and meeting the staff. Many Thanks. Terry (U.K)
I looked at walking from the Palace Pacifico at first. It would be a long hour and a half walk over
rough terrain in the heat, not worth it! £25 per person includes entry and taxi to and from and to wait for you. Enjoy!

It's approximately $10 each. Basically everyone gave a few extra bucks as a donation to help the place continue it's work.

Hello, I have a few questions please...
Can you tell me the opening hours?
Do you just turn up on the day and pay on entry?
What are the most recent prices? Including price for younger child (2 year old)
Many thanks

What is the best way of getting there if I don't have a vehicle? How long does it normally take to go through the exhibit?

You can ask any taxi to bring you to the crocodiles sanctuary. Our tours are lasting about one hour. Some taxis can wait for you but we can also call you a taxi at the end of the tour.
Why it is not giving me the option to book this through trip advisor?
Santuario de co... E
Bucerias, Mexico4 contributions
There is indeed no need to book the tour. There will be somebody to receive you and a guide will give you the tour. In the worst case you can be asked to wait a bit if there is no guide available. But this is only during very busy days.
