It was very fun. Our tour guide was very nice and we got to see a lot of interesting marine life. We booked an earlier tour at 10 so it wasn’t as crowded and the beach was absolutely beautiful. Our tour guide santiago was very pleasant and informative. I would 10/10 recommend.

It was a great experience and the guide was good. We saw many turtles, a few stingrays, and many other fish. We booked the first tour at 9:00 am which was perfect as it was less busy.

I am so glad we booked this guided snorkeling tour! My family was NOT happy with me for booking an 8:30am tour, but I had read enough reviews about how crowded the water gets with tour groups and we successfully avoided that. They appreciated it when they saw all the people arriving as we were leaving. Melqui was a great guide and wonderful photographer-he captured some great photos which is actually quite a difficult task: He’s in the water positioning himself to get us AND the turtles or stingrays in the same frame. He did a great job! We saw multiple turtles, stingrays and fish. I appreciated the fact that he was respectful of the rules respecting the wildlife, as I had read that not all tour guides do. Booking through Get your guides was easy and made communicating with Melqui and his company easy. We had access to lockers and the public beach for the rest of the day. I would recommend taking Dramamine for anyone who gets seasick easily. I’m embarrassed to say that I felt nauseated afterwards-very unexpected so I hadn’t taken any. Since we didn’t go on a boat I didn’t think I needed to, but I guess floating in the water for 1.5 hours can still make one sick! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

There are tons of tours that are available to swim with the sea turtles (and other marine animals) in this area. Our hotel actually offered one that cost slightly less ($5-$10) per person, for example. Having said that, PICK THIS TOUR.

We booked this excursion somewhat at random out of the available tours and ended up with the best possible experience we could have ever asked for. It was a private group tour that consisted of just us for the day, which was spectacular. No waiting on anybody else to swim along, and nobody to make you feel rushed.

Our guide, David, texted us the morning of the tour to ensure we would be there and would know where to go. Unfortunately, I missed that text, so they followed up with a phone call shortly before the meeting time to make sure we could find each other--he was generous enough to come all the way to us to meet and get ready. Once we got in the water, he made sure to not leave me behind (as I'm not the strongest swimmer) and did an incredible job scouting and pointing out the turtles, rays, and other items (Spanish Cannons!) that were there. There were a couple of times that the larger group tours swimming around us missed seeing turtles within a few feet of them that David pointed out for us.

The experience itself was pretty unbelievable as well--one that can't be replicated in many places. All in all, both the activity and this particular tour are not to be missed. If you're waffling on whether to go--just book it and enjoy.

I will say that this tour does not include any time on a boat, so you're both swimming out to the main tour area and swimming back in, so make sure you're able to swim/float (with a life jacket) a decent amount of time. The good news is that you're generally so engrossed with what's around you that you don't notice too much.

I can't recommend this tour and David enough--we'll definitely do this again the next time we're in the area. Thanks for the fantaastic experience!

Excellent tour. We booked online the night before as had heard about the mass commercialisation of Akumal beach. Our guide Davide was excellent. He waited for us patiently as the kids (10 and 7) swam out. Saw huge turtles, stingrays, octopuses, lots of shoals of fish and the reef. Just enough time. Very well organised, tickets to the beach were bought for us and Davide showed us the changing rooms / lockers. Would highly recommend !

David was very good at spotting turtles! I suggest doing the 9am tour as Akumal gets very busy quickly. The meeting spot is actually a booth a little ways down from the parking lot. If you’re getting a taxi ride it is easy as he will wait for the guide to arrive. In the short time we were in the water we saw more than 6 different sea turtles! We walked the beach of Akumal after and saw barracuda and stingrays very close to the shore. It is an amazing cove and this is the best value trip!

My girlfriend and I had an amazing time with our guide Jesus. He made sure we got to see as much as possible and helped keep us calm as both of us are a bit weary of water. William met us at the entrance and walked us to meet the guide. Everything went smoothly and both Jesus and William were so friendly. We highly recommend booking with them!

We had a great time snorkeling here and saw 4 turtles, 3 sting rays, and multiple fish. Although the visibility wasn’t good today, the winds were very high, our guides (Jesus and Santiago) were excellent and we had a great time. The beach was busy but not too crowded and our excursion only had the 8 people in our group which was really nice. The beaches were excellent here and the facility and bathrooms very clean and well kept.
