This looks like an impressive and attractive mall. However the first impression is of a huge anchor store that's vacant, next to a food court that has about 1/3 of its restaurants closed. I made the mistake of trying to visit and have a bite to eat before a 7:30 movie at the nearby AMC. I was served at one of the restaurant booths, telling them that I wanted to eat inside. No problem, except nobody told me that the mall would close at 7, with security guards walking through shouting "the mall is closed" as I took my first bites. Really? You'd think that the restaurant might point that out. Even more, you'd think that a major shopping mall would be open a little later than 7PM if they want to get some business back after the pandemic. Maybe I can understand why there are so many vacant places.

I had spent more than five hours solo in this mall without being bored. A lot of stores to shop from, and there are a lot of seating areas. Food court was large. Decorations are very beautiful and stunning.

Three of the five anchor stores are gone - Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue and Sears; Macy's and JC Penneys.remain. I mall walk in the mornings; shop at Macy's and ocassionally dine at the restaurants. Before the modernization of movie seats/recliners AMC Fairlane 21 was my favorite movie theater. Fairlane Town Center appears to cater to the 30 and under generation with a few exceptions - a Powerhouse gym, Starter's Bar & Grill, P.F. Chang’s, Burger King, Mrs. Fields Cookies, a Food Court, Cinnabons, several Boutique like shops, Tshirts, Sportswear, shoe stores, a variety of mobile phone stores, several jewelry stores, and Ford Motor Company offices in the former Lord & Taylor location. Two hotels: The Henry Hotel & now closed Edward Hotel & Convention Center, DFCU Financial Credit Union, Big Fish Restaurant, TGI Fridays, University of Michigan dorms, Henry Ford Hospital and A & W, and Benihana surround the perimeter. (Side Note) GREAT for inside "mall walkers" - all seasons (doors open at 8:00 a.m.).

Used to be this place was the Disneyland of Malls. As people moved away from brick and mortar locations this place remains. all of the anchor stores, macy's, Saks 5th avenue, Penny;s sears, are all gone now. place has been transformed to office space for Ford. several stores remain but just a fraction of what used to occupy. Still worth checking out.

We came across this shopping centre as I am always looking into buying original things when I am in this part of the world.

Yes, it has a huge variety of shops (as my pics show) and as we entered via the shopping court and then accessed the shop area I concluded this could be any mall on the west or east coast on a midweek midday.

I cannot understand why other people are complaining about this mall, ultimately people make a place great.... and safe and not the other way round.

The mall seemed to be organised and as I spoke with some shop keepers they mentioned how bad the economy is: truthfully speaking their items were priced almost double than in London (if you know where to shop for similar items) so probably the economy is worse in this part of the world.

Pity I could not find anything interesting for me, truthfully speaking in London the fashion is so much more avantgarde..... no way you can still see people dressed like in the '80s as I found in the US in so many states - although I kind of like it that people can get away with this unlike in Europe and UK especially.

Good mall close to my hotel. Had major retail shops like JCPenney, Macy's, Shoe Dept Encore, VS, H&M, Forever 21.
I would recommend Shoe dept encore, VS, Perfumania, bath and body works for thrift shopping. Loved the ice cream from Dairy queen.

I can't believe how this once beautiful theater has become the most vile disgusting place in the mall. They should pay you to come in. I'm very disappointed in what has become of this place. I've never been to an AMC theater in any state I've lived in that was in this bad of condition. Thoroughly disappointed in AMC for allowing this it's an awful representation of them.

I had a few hours to waste, and took a trip to this mall since it was near my hotel. The mall was disappointing. It contains your average stores, most of which didn't appeal to me. The only store I enjoyed was the candy store. The layout is very weird with floors coming and going, and some just end abruptly. A positive attention to this mall is there is a movie theatre next to it. I didn't get to experience the theatre since I didn't have enough time to a see a movie.

Well, I've been here and done it. Fairlane has the most disappointing food court of any mall I've been to anywhere in the world. Thank goodness for Burger King on the lower level near Sears. There is an A&W across the parking lot from JC Penney.

The mall was clean but has an annoying layout of stairs and accessible ramps that as you continue from one end to the other you always seem to be at half levels. I don't recall seeing an elevator but I'm sure there was somewhere. The mall is an odd shape and therefore you have to walk around some areas where there aren't any shops or around massive open areas to get into a store.

The Sears and JCP stores had one checkout on each floor thus resulting in waiting in a line up to cash out. At Christmas or Black Friday this could be very annoying.

There is lots of parking around the mall and is accessible by roads all around it. Very easily accessible off Michigan Avenue just past Southfield Freeway.

I arrived mid-afternoon and felt quite safe but after the dinner hour there tended to be more teenagers about and hanging around the food court so one had to be aware of the surroundings.

I went for Sears, JCP and Macy's and that was fine but this mall is dated and badly needs a reno to get rid of the ramps so that walking is consistent on each level and to put in a couple of escalators. So much waste space from the bad design and layout.
