Check-In: We arrived at 4:20 and had a couple in front of us, We left check-in at 5:36, and we were relaxed in mind having a drink in the pool but not could be possible.
The Room: We were surprised we the room because it had two beds and the beds were small for a full-size bed and bigger than a twin-size, The room was the real definition of a simple room, shampoo, condition, shower gel, body lotion, and blower, mini bar, coffee and tea station, the first day we have to big towel and a medium one, no hand towel, no floor towel, the next day the bathroom was better.
When I said simple room, included the shocking news we didn't have room service although our reservation said "special attention"
The Room was for sleep more than anything and we slept well.
For the night to get to the room had poor illumination and for Us, it was a risk so we had to use a flashlight.
The Pool: It's big and has a lot of space, particularly don't like an area near the bar which was deep for me, and I couldn't easily cross the pool if I had a drink in hand (my height 1.65 mt / 5.5 feet).
For a big pool, it was uncomfortable to have just one bar, and when the hotel has a lot of guests this one bar results in very small.
Recreation area: They had a Kid's place and splash area, It's what's perfect for families with kids because everyone could enjoy the pool and have a snack without leaving the area.
The lobby it's nice but results small when the hotel has a lot of guest, just like we experienced, The bar is very small and don't have a place the recreate, if you don't have a seat your options are pour to go, not sport bar, no coffee shop, no kids place for the night. Just lobby, theater, and Casino.
The snack bar just open from 11 am to 5 pm. The pool bar open from 10 am to 6 pm
Recommendations: Get early to the check-in before the hour indicated. Before going to your room, get direct to make a reservation to a la carte restaurant.
For us, it was just a poor experience.

The bartenders here make some fantastic drinks especially Eric! He makes some amazing specialty drinks!

Ana De La Rosa was the best server in the lobby bar. She was absolutely beautiful ❤️🥂. Her afternoon cocktails were a trip highlight. Loved the lobby vibes.

Food could be better; alcohol could be better and the staff service could be better. Rooms cleaner and no bugs. We had 3 rooms booked they did place us all in the same villa however my daughters room her bed was dirty and had a big hair ball under the pillows. We were in the Level asked our butler to make dinner reservations for the week. 2 of the nights were were taken to closed restaurants. No night entertainment. Pool bars all closed in the pool area you had to get out of the pool to get a drinks. Drinks were not good and we could only get top liquor at one bar. No one spoke English. Resort was very big I had my parents with me who could not walk allot, the last day we asked for service to check out with our luggage no one came we ended up walking and pulling our luggage. This was are 2nd time here and will be our last. Will never recommend Melia.

We have had a great holiday here at the Melia Caribe Tropical. Most of the staff are attentive and polite, exceptions listed below.
A special thanks to 2 people who deserve a mention. Xiomara Reyes in the adult dining room, very good service and made you feel so welcome.
Keiber Boy In the adult bar, he makes the most amazing Gin & Tonics.
Both are a credit to the Hotel.
We asked for extra water in our room which arrived everyday when our room was serviced.
I do have a couple of issues which people should be aware of.
1. Booking in was a long and frustrating process due to the delay tactics used in trying to get us to upgrade which I thought was overpriced and in all honesty not worth it. Strange how the price reduced 3 times before we were finally upgraded for free. My suspicion is our original room was not ready or available.
2. We were given 900 credit vouchers for various use around the complex, to many to list. Unfortunately when we tried to use some of them the staff did not recognise them and refused to offer the discount.
The golf buggies and Spa were fine.
That aside we have enjoyed the hotel and excursions which were booked at the adult pool.
Don't let my last comments put you off , it's just issues which I think could be resolved by the Hotel.

We were the only two from our place to attend this resort and the person checking us in was very pushy wanting us to upgrade our room for a $1,000. US for ten days. We said no but she wouldn’t give up she went on and on. After three hour wait we finally got a room.
The Air Transit rep the next day was not happy that we didn’t want an excursion as we have been to Punta Cana eight times.
The weather was great.
The buffet on the adult side was amazing as was the Italian and American Grill.
The mini bar in the room only supplies two mini size beers in room. If you want more you need to call for more and they are light American beers.
This resort is very huge but has golf carts and trains to get around.
Lovely resort but to big for us.
We didn’t find the staff that friendly here either.
We will not go back.

Even though this particular bar in the Melia is very busy. I found the bartenders give most of their attention to their "regulars" Good luck getting a Drink or even their attention. I always tip well. After waving a couple of dollars around to get their attention, I finally got my beer.

Arrived at the resort and was welcomed with refreshing drinks and an beautiful/tropical atmosphere at there general area. Checking at The Level Adults Only Resort was also very nice. Handed a refreshing drink and a cold towel. Rooms were very nice and close to everything, pool, beach and restaurants. The staff were very accommodating and friendly throughout the resort. The only areas of improvement would be the night life. The club was dark and needs to be renovated at the general hotel area and they need to make a club at The Level for the adult only crowd.

Radames Félix (jefe coordinador de waiters) is an awesome human being that inspires peace, delicacy, elegance and professionalism. He chose to become part of our waiter on our last night at the Level @ Melia Caribe Tropical and surprised us with delicacies from the kitchen. Always with a big smile in the face like every single one employee @ Melia. Never saw a frown face from any staff member.
Rainer Mejia was another fantastic waiter that always helped us every morning. Always attentive and helping every other waiter to provide excellent service. I leave with sadness not only because I leave my beautiful native country but also because of the new great friends we have made. Thank you Melia Caribe Tropical. The Level reception, main lobby reception, The adults Level pool bar, bar next to the Disco, Guarapo restaurant (best Dominican food ever), Cuatro where I met fantastic and unforgettable people, my cleaning ladies during the day and at night. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.

This place is fabulous! They have fantastic entertainment you will enjoy. The music and dancing is so much fun they also put on shows don't miss them!!!! There is a casino right off the bar if you want to try you luck on slots or table games.

Is it worth the money to upgrade to The Level?

Our first time there we did not know anything about The Level and they offered the upgrade. We were so happy that we did this and would not stay anywhere else at Melia. This year they actually advertised The Level in their travel brochure so we automatically booked The Level which is Adult Only, has a private pool and beach area and many other amenities. I highly recommend you try this. Linda
