- BartonbearsCoffs Harbour, Australia2,619 contributionsBeautiful sandy beach with the town's alleyways nearby to explore. This is a lovely sandy beach with views of the town and the impressive cliffs. Along the beach we found octopi and fish stretched on frames and drying in the sun - highly photogenic and part of a local museum. The main street of the town runs along the beach edge and has numerous bars, restaurants and other amenities. It is well worth exploring the quaint alleyways of the town while you are here.Visited June 2023Written August 4, 2023
- Patty BNashville, Tennessee1,439 contributionsWe Loved This AreaWe had seen photos of this fabulous beach. During winter they get some of the largest waves in the world. We didn’t get to see them in April but the entire beach area was great. We walked all along the street and the observation point. It was a great way to spend an hour. There were restaurants, but we didn’t try them. I did buy a little magnet surfboard from a man who had made it and was selling them on the walkway. We loved seeing this area.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten August 17, 2023

Greek feel w the white washed streets and buildings..fantastic lunch at Gil Vicente ..great seafood and combed the beach ..wide clean sand and smooth stones , clean water ..beautiful. - The_Concierge_8Trinidad and Tobago3,722 contributionsDream time to visit is January & February! Be careful of currents if you're planning to swim. Water is always cold.We made a stop here for lunch before heading up to the viewing point overlooking the town. The sand was cool and soft underfoot and there was so much of it! A very wide expanse of stunning beach. A concert was being set up on the sand. The beach really is just an extension of the promenade as there are always things going on here. Nice to spend some time strolling, watching people taking surfing lessons or just enjoying the ambience of the town which is all beach-front. Have a meal in one of the many restaurants along the stretch. There are lots of options! What I did not see were waves. Came all this way for calm. Ugh. But I learned that the best time to visit is actually January & February to see the biggest waves. The water offshore needs to be respected with the convergence of 3 major currents. Be careful and think twice about going into the water.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten May 9, 2024
- ViewsAndReviewsBrasov, Romania1,165 contributionsPristine beach in a quaint townWhat is not to love? The sand is rather pebbly and a bit golden, the water fairly clear, and the atmosphere welcoming. Yes the adjoining town is quite touristy, but you’re a tourist! It’s okay. On the north end of the “lower beach” (meaning not Nazare Norte) there are windbreakers for rent and other concessions including a restroom and a surf school. The southern end is less populated. Later on, take the elevator car for €4 RT up to Nazare Norte beach where the panoramic views are, as well as another small town area and the famous massive waves (best seen in October).Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten June 24, 2024

Well-kept beach in a relaxed oceanside town. Very nice scenery with the cliffs to the north. Can be windy, which is good for surfing. Virtually empty in the early morning for a run or walk. If you're looking for a getaway from Lisbon, you could certainly do worse than Nazaré.

We were just here at the wrong time of year to enjoy this famous surfers paradise. It is home to some of the largest waves in the world. Still had an interesting two hours exploring and having lunch.

We went in early April and not only was the weather bad but the surf was not up. Big beaches near the town and a tough walk down to the surfing.

Enchanting and mesmerising experience at this beach. You find clean, strong, super long view here. If you like to run, walk long ways along seaside this is the choice. Very wide view of sunset that you will never miss. Big waves and extreme sports can be done here.

Long and wide beach with boardwalk; many cafes and restaurants; the town can accommodate large numbers of vehicles, plenty of parking; fun place to walk around.

This is a lovely beach in Nazare with golden sands.
It seems like a safe beach for swimming.
There are plenty of kiosks where you can buy ice creams, eats etc for your day at the beach.

Nice walk near the ocean. In April-September here is calm ocean, you can sunbathe and swim. From October to March it’s the best place to see giant waves.

ciao che tu sappia le onde ci sono più o meno tutti i giorni o bisogna essere fortunati?
Written November 8, 2019
Le onde alte e belle ci sono nella stagione autunnale-invernale. In estate quasi nulla.

We were there when the beach football or volleyball was on. I think it might have been free to watch as didn't really see any ticket booths I don't think.
If there is a website for the event have a look or if you're in the area then just pop in to have a look.

I plan to go see the big waves tomorrow as forecast is windy. Where do I go to get the best and safest views

Please take electric tram, which will climb up to a great height on top of hill where upper city is situated. Ticket is around 1.5 Euro. From there you can have a splendid view open to all direction towards sea. There also you can find a small chapel where Vasco da Gama offered prayer before his Maritime discovery navigation. .

As I'm planning a trip to Nazare with my dog (in October), I'm looking for information if entering a beach with a dog is allowed. If you have any further tips about travelling around Nazare or Portugal with a dog, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Na zona da Nazaré as Praias têm interdição aos Animais na época Balnear de Junho a final de setembro. Há uns kms mais à frente na zona de Peniche a primeira praia portuguesa estipulada para Cães
