The Power Of Christ Compels you!
My wife and I went to DC mid July and being the huge horror movie buffs that we are, visiting the Exorcist stairs was a must. The Exorcist is my wife’s favorite horror film. The stairs were rather easy to find. But, getting a few pictures of yourself and just the stairs is the tricky part. These stairs are a cut through for many people living there. There was also a highly annoying dude exercising, going up and down the stairs, stretching etc. I only mention he was annoying because I was convinced this guy does it to irritate everyone trying to get pics. I read other reviews and he’s mentioned. He even mentioned to me at one point,”What, am I Fu$$ing up your shot?” To which I laughed, “No man, I’m getting them around you but it’s your backyard man, I’m just a visitor, I’ll manage” anyhow, back to the stairs. Two things struck me when I finally saw them. They are definitely ominous and they are far bigger and longer than I imagined. And the house was also up top right around the corner. We got lucky because the gate was completely open! Most of the time it is closed from what I’ve seen and read! We highly recommend taking a stroll up and down these magnificent ominous stairs!

Wear good sneakers if you are planning on walking/running the stairs
It was so much fun I visited 2x 1st visit was with my senior beagles and a friend. 2nd time was with friends ( beagles stayed at hotel room) I recommend to go. You won't be disappointed. Not sure how it is there now in 2023. I was there in 2018 and 2019. I think the gas station at the bottom of the stairs has been demolished. **There was no option for the years I went above** Hopefully they fix that little glitch

Both a landmark out of movie history and a convenient shortcut into Georgetown..
This was not only a landmark in movie history but also a legitimate shortcut through the block, from M street to Prospect St. The high end is next to the Exorcist House, and a few doors after that, where two Transformers statues pose for photo ops. Climbing this staircase is a fun thing to, and an opportunity to shed use up some calories and flex some step-climbing muscles, as part of a visit to historic Georgetown, especially if such visit will include a tour of Georgetown University. The fact that these stairs were featured in one of the greatest, if not the greatest, horror movies in film history promotes conversation-making and could prove to be the subject of a fun story to tell others.

If you are a horror fan, and specifically a fan of The Exorcist, you have to stop by here! The stairs are super steep - that’s no joke - so be careful. This is just an incredibly cool thing to see for fans.

It was extremely thrilling to see walk up and down the same steps used in the very famous movie viz.THE EXORCIST which was released 50 years ago.

Can't believe The Exorcist movie filmed their finale here. Steps were steeper than imagined. For the horror movie fan at heart, try climbing them at night. Felt creepy and surreal, but I loved it!

Walked over to the steps from downtown DC which didn't take long. Took just a bit to find them and then had to wait to get a picture as a local was using the stairs for exercise.

Interesting to see the stair from the movie and read some information at the top about filming there.

Worth the trek over if you're not in hurry and want to see the Georgetown area and stop in some other shops and grab a lunch.

Half our group haven’t seen the movie, but there is a plaque at the street at the top of stairs that quickly lists several other movies that have been filmed in the Georgetown area. Easy to walk past if you are already walking from Georgetown to M Street.

If you are a fan of horror movies or cinema in general, it’s a pretty neat stop while in Georgetown. However, it is just a set of steep stairs, so if you don’t fall into one of these categories, it’s not something to make a special trip for. Speaking of trip, be very careful on these stairs, as they are very steep.
