About
Only 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver, allow 2 - 3 hours for your visit to Vancouver's iconic Capilano Suspension Bridge, hanging 450 feet (137m) across and 230 feet (70m) above Capilano River. The park offers more than just the bridge. Its surrounding 27 acres celebrate nature, history and culture in unique and thrilling ways. Cliffwalk hangs for 213m (700ft) and reaches 91m (300ft) high, hugging the granite cliffside and offering a panoramic view of the thriving rainforest and canyon far below. On Treetops Adventure walk from one magnificent old growth Douglas-fir to another on a series of seven elevated suspension bridges, reaching as high as 110 feet (33m), for a squirrel's eye view of the forest. Guides, signage and interactive exhibits throughout the park help you in your understanding of rainforest ecosystems and their sustainability.

    Communing with Nature
After visiting the Capilano River salmon hatchery, we visited this place and I really loved it! We crossed the long suspension bridge and the cliffwalk, went up to the Treetops Adventure, and relaxed in the cabins. It felt great to commune with Nature and to walk the trails in the woods. The view was simply spectacular! Highly recommended!
Hi, thank you so much for the kind words and your 5 star review! We are so glad you enjoyed your time at the Park!

    Go for the sunset admission!
Well-made and maintained park with some very impressive views (especially the cliff walk is stunning). However, the price for a normal ticket is pretty high. Instead I would recommend going for the sunset admission since it's cheaper, the park is not so crowded and the evening atmosphere gives it a nice touch.
Hello, thank you for sharing your experience at the Park. We are glad you enjoyed the Cliffwalk! Our evening rate does offer 30% off all admission rates when you visit from 5 pm – close and the Park is generally less busy later in the day. We hope to see you again soon!

First Time on a Suspension Bridge with Too Many People!
As other folks suggested, it gets very busy, so earlier the better. we did not do any sort of tour but drove ourselves and found parking across the street. We were there when the crowds were getting bad, so we had to wait to go on the bridge. They let WAY more people on it so I was pretty uncomfortable crossing. It was a little better on the way back because I knew what to expect. Taking photos was difficult because of the movement of the bridge and the number of people. I did manage to get one and not drop my phone! When we walked up in the trees, we were held up numerous times by tourists taking pictures and selfies. We did take advantage of the rest of the park and drove up the rode to the Salmon Hatchery and Cleveland Dam. The hatchery was very educational, and the Dam was impressive; both were beautiful. Best thing.....We were the only people at both. It's worth seeing these two sights . You have to kind of explore the paths at the Dam because they are not obvious.
Hi! Thank you for the 4 star review and for taking the time to share your valuable feedback, we really appreciate it and are always looking for ways to improve! We do see busier times in the afternoon, and most guests like to visit between 12 and 2. We do recommend earlier day visits, or after 2pm if you’re hoping for a quieter experience.

Rain or Shine - more than just a bridge
I work singing and entertaining here, and this is my first season. What I have noticed is that when I have invited friends and even family, they have cancelled when there is rain in the forecast, and so I've chosen this platform (additionally to my microphone) to tell the world that this park is gorgeous when it is raining. Some aspects of your experience are even enhanced with rain! Bonus! if you are local you can always come back on the same ticket on a sunny day in future (no extra charge if you register as a BC resident on your way out). The interactive carts (there's so much to learn!), the birds of prey (retired and let you get close!), and the music (old-timey acoustic), are all part of your full price admission. It's not just a bridge, it's a full experience you can enjoy even without a camera or phone.
Vancouver rain can be relentless....we’re glad you figured out that it’s a perfect time to visit a West Coast Temperate Rainforest. It’s also pretty special to see the river wildly rushing under the bridge!

    Nature on display from above.
A Park for nature lovers. We enjoyed the forest, the totem poles, and the suspension bridge and the treetop walks. A great view of the canyon, from the suspension bridge and the canyon walk. We enjoyed the bird demonstrations and even the ones on slugs. Come early, the earlier the better as this is a popular place and the increased number of people decreased your enjoyment of the lovely place.
Thank you so much for your 5 star review and for taking the time to share your experience! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed everything the Park has to offer!

It's a tourist trap, but in a good way.
The entire Capilano experience is tourist trap: Kind of pricey, gift shops, crowds, countless people blocking the way to take selfies. But this park built by the Capilano family is a unique opportunity to see and photograph great forest views, walk over a slightly unnerving suspension footbridge, explore a rainforest from a treehouse perspective and enjoy the wonders of nature, albeit with hundreds of other people. It was worth the admission for all of the good things and all of the tourist trappy things can be overlooked.
Hi there - Thank you so much for taking the time to share your 5 star experience, it makes us smile to hear your enjoyed your visit and were able to appreciate our beautiful forest and all its amenities! We do recommend earlier day visits, or after 2pm if you’re hoping for a quieter experience.

Something nice to do and great view
This was a nice little trip. Like everything else out here, all tourist stuff is not cheap. There are some that would not have liked the suspension bridge as it may have been to shaky or high for them. It was a great walking trip, with beautiful views of nature, the valley it was in, the greenery, The cool paths and suspension bridges that may have taken ages to make. The birds were cool. The Owl the guy talked to us about as it sat with him. The free bus from our hotel was quick and on time. All and all a nice few hours in a real cool nature spot.
We’re so happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit and you were able to appreciate the beautiful nature the park has to offer! Thank you for visiting and for taking the time to share your experience!

Awesome sense of rainforest in the city!
My husband and I used their free shuttle from downtown. The park is well laid out with signs and guides, including verbal reminders about proper behaviour while crossing the suspension bridge. There are many info boards throughout, that are short and easy to read. Before the actual bridge, there was the CliffWalk, which is on the edge of the canyon, with spectacular views. After crossing the bridge, there are many trails, including TreeTop Adventures. There are food places on both sides of the bridge and very helpful, engaged staff members. The gift shop has many items, shirts, souvenirs and postcards. This experience took us 2.5-3 hours and we would have stayed longer if we hadn't had another appointment. It was wonderful to be immersed in the sounds and smells of nature, in a well maintained and cared for park. We will definitely return when we are in the area again! Don't miss this one!

    Capilano Suspension Bridge
Our family visited Capilano Suspension Bridge on a weekday afternoon and had a wonderful time. We had bought tickets ahead of time and it was a very smooth process upon arrival. We loved visiting all of the different areas and experiences. It was very crowded but that did not detract from the experience for me. It was a very unique place that we would recommend to anyone visiting Vancouver.

Expensive but (just about) worth it.
We visted on a rainy day in late September. Given the highlight of the park is the fact it is in a rainforest i suspect that is the best weather to visit! The main features of the park are the bridge itself, the cliff walk and the tree top walk. They've clearly spend a lot of time and put a lot of thought into designing those activites and we found it genuinely impressive. Take the free 15 minute shuttle from downtown if you dont want to be constrained by an organised tour.
Thank you so much for your kind words and your 5 star review! Vancouver rain can be relentless so we’re glad you discovered that it’s a perfect time to visit a West Coast Temperate Rainforest.

We really enjoyed the park. Beautiful area! This is not a place for anyone that has a fear of heights, as most bridges and walkways are highly elevated. There are also lots of steps to go up. My teen daughter and I felt the trip was worth it, as it was something different to do within a forest atmosphere.

Two ways to get there - free shuttle stopping at three major hotels or a paid bus and ferry make it an easily accessible place to visit. That's where the good value stops though as entrance to the park is quite expensive. The bridge is impressive to see and walk over - but of course it swings so not all faces were joyful! The walk through the trees on wooden walkways is wonderful and strolling through the board walks is great. Not great if you have physical limitations or very young children.

Very fun family activity and a great place to “safely” challenge anyone’s fear of heights (like mine lol)! The scenery is beautiful from every angle and there are more activities than just the bridge - like the Cliffwalk (my fave) and the Nature Boardwalk. It’s definitely worth visiting at least once - but it’s very expensive for what it is so I wouldn’t do it again (minus one star for price and crowds!!).

The main attraction here is the suspension bridge. It sits a whopping 230 feet above the Capilano River in the middle of a beautiful old-growth PNW forest. The mountain and river views from the bridge are incredible! The bridge stays pretty much packed with visitors and it shakes a lot so bring your nerves of steel and your patience lol.

The original bridge was built in 1889 out of hemp ropes and cedar planks by Scottish civil engineer George Grant Mackay. The bridge today is completely rebuilt and made of wire cables. The bridge has been in a few movies and shows like MacGyver and The Crow and featured in Mario Kart.

There was even a famous psychological experiment done here to show how fear affects physical attraction - if a woman approached a man on the suspension bridge vs a nearby “normal” bridge, she was much more likely to get a call back haha!

The height is no joke though - over the years a few people have fallen and died - In each instance, the victims were outside the safety railings so be careful.

The Nature Boardwalk is found after the suspension bridge and is much more tame - a wide wooden boardwalk and stairs weaves through the treetops with beautiful forest views and some interesting info signs. There’s a snack shop at the entrance too.

But the highlight for me was the Cliffwalk - even with my fear of heights lol! It’s about 30 or so stories up on the mountainside and juts out from the cliff and over the river! Some of the narrow flooring is see-through grate too which makes it even more terrifying haha! It’s 700 feet long but attached to the cliff at only 16 points! The views are the best in the park though - waterfalls, mountains, and great views of the suspension bridge! Highly recommend!

At the entrance, there’s a really nice Native American exhibit contributed by the local tribes that’s also well worth exploring.

We really had a great visit - but the prices are kinda crazy. It’s over $50USD per adult (PRO TIP: save like $2.50 by buying online - they charge more at the door). I’m glad we went but at those prices I wouldn’t go again. They have seasonal hours and occasionally some of the park attractions are closed for maintenance so they’ll offer discounts.

It’s located about 10 miles north of Vancouver city center so I recommend a car. It’s easy to find, a nice drive, and they have ample free parking.

The views from the suspension bridge and other activities were beautiful, but we're from the PNW and are frequent hikers, so the views were similar to what we've seen at home. If you're from an area without forests, valleys, and mountains, then the views might seem more impressive and worth the effort and money to you.

My main complaint was that no employee of the park seemed to be controlling the number of suspension bridge walkers or those walkers who wanted to jump up and down or otherwise do something to make the bridge sway more than it normally would. This behavior was discouraged by comments on the website and at the park, but clearly, some people were not paying attention and insisted on behaving irresponsibly.

We went after 5:00 PM to save a few dollars, but learned that many other park-goers had the same idea. The park and all activities were crowded, and it definitely lowered our enjoyment of the park. Many times we had to stand and wait for people to move forward. It was a slow crawl especially on the cliff walk, and the crowds made the suspension bridge less enjoyable than it could have been. The treetops adventure walk was less crowded and had some nice views.

Overall, it seemed overpriced to us, even with the discount after 5:00 PM. It does have beautiful scenery, so it delivers in that respect if you don't live somewhere with scenic views. But consider going earlier in the day, maybe in the morning, when it will hopefully be less crowded.

We really loved the impressive and beautiful Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park. It is pricey at $75 CAD but this included the free round trip shuttle from downtown Vancouver. We got there early (less crowded), walked the bridges and catwalks and then stayed for lunch at the sit-down restaurant. Wonderful way to beat the summer heat in the shade of the rain forest!

The bridge itself is quite impressive and the park seems like a playground for children, with numerous activities designed to keep the young ones entertained.

However, if you don't have children and are looking to experience nature, I highly recommend walking just 30 minutes further up the road where you can enjoy a beautiful natural setting for free and save the $75 per person entry fee.

We completed all the "activities" within an hour and were left with a "Was that it?" feeling. Perhaps we're simply too old for it.

In contrast, we decided to visit the nearby salmon hatchery, which was a wonderful, free, and relaxing 30min walk. It was quiet (no screaming children or scared-of-hights screaming people) and offered true nature at its best. The views of the river there were astonishing and far superior to what can be seen in the park.

In summary, while the park is great for kids and can keep them entertained for a couple of hours, for those who appreciate natural, "untouched" nature, rather than man-made attractions, and having done Quarry Rock in Deep Cove and Grouse Grind, it might feel underwhelming.

A really nice morning walking around this well maintained park. We took loads of photos and there were far more trails than we expected. We got there early - and it got noticeably busier, so our advice would be to make this the first stop of your adventure.

We got the free shuttle there and had no trouble getting an Uber onwards to our next destination.

I had always wanted to walk on suspension bridge, but until now I never had the chance. The tickets to the park included the bus ride. The park itself had more than just the suspension bridge, including a kids area. The bridge is awesome, a little scary at first, but then just a lot of fun to be on. I would recommend this to anyone who would listen.
