        Perfect day exploring Rias Baixas
My husband and I had the pleasure of being taken on the Rias Baixas mussel farm and wine tasting tour by Juanjo. He was very knowledgeable and showed us some of the true gems in this region. We were able to have a private tour and tasting of a local winery with some of the best albarinho wine in the region. Additionally, the mussel farm boat tour was interesting, but the highlights were the unlimited delicious mussels and wine. We explored a few other areas in the region and learned a lot about the history and culture. For lunch, Juanjo got us into a local restaurant that served an endless supply of seafood and albraino wine. We truly had a lovely day and appreciated Juanjo's time and company. Would highly recommend this experience!

Excellent Tour of Riax Baixas - worth the trip!
Booked this tour with Civitatis and it was truly a gem of an experience. Our tour guide Lucia was informative and knew the whole history on the region as well as all of the sites we went to visit. The only suggestion I would give it's the map location on where to meet, I had to call the office and asked exactly where the meeting place was. We visited the Adega Eidos winery and all of the wines were delicious. Then went to have boat tour with all the mussels you can eat along with more wines, it was truly worth every penny spent. Afterwards we finish by visiting Cambarro and the beach area, very beautiful area.

Day trip for a personalized wine, mussel, boat and stimulating tour.
Punctual! I was immediately comfortable with Juanjo Cuenca, who is widely knowledgeable about not only the Galicia region but of the food, culture and people. He also speaks perfect English and lived in the States for 5 years, which made for fun conversation. I loved the wine tasting and the bilingual proprietor of the winery. No pressure at all to buy to ship home. I would have stayed all day to learn more. Mussels! I adore mussels and I was not disappointed. The boat was fun. You are given a huge tub of steamed mussels to eat with wine, water or soda. You’re taken to a mussels farm offshore to see how they are cultivated. Very interesting. Afterward, we took a stroll around the ancient walkways with restaurants and boutiques and Juanjo pointed out interesting regional points. We had lunch at a small, quiet out of the way place for the most outstanding Pulpo I have ever had. The time went quickly. I highly recommend this very customer-customized trip. I am not able to walk long distances and Juanjo immediately shortened the walk. He is a complete gentleman, knowledgeable and a very special tour operator.

Amazing Wine and Food Tour in Rias Baixas!
We had the BEST time exploring Rias Baixas with Juanjo! He picked us up in a comfortable vehicle from Santiago de Compostela and showed us Galicia’s beautiful wine region. He seamlessly translated Spanish to English when needed, and introduced us to local wine makers and their families. I can’t think of a more perfect day! If you want an authentic and local wine and (delicious) seafood experience in Galicia, book this tour!

Tours of Galicia and Juanjo Cuenca are terrific!
After much research on the internet, we selected the “One day Rias Baixas private tour” offered by Tours of Galicia, and we could not have done better. Juanjo Cuenca is an expert tour guide, and more. He is a fount of knowledge, well-prepared, flexible, and knows how to read his clients. My wife and I have done winery tours in the United States, like Albariño, and we both speak Spanish. Our conversation with Juanjo shifted back and forth seamlessly between his excellent colloquial English and Spanish, as the situation required. We were picked up at our hotel in Santiago, on time, and proceeded to the Salnés valley for a tour of four wineries in Juan’s comfortable SUV, which had bottled water and rechargers for our phones. We visited two small and two medium-sized wineries. We learned about the grape, the vineyards, the harvesting, and differences in wine production, and creative ways wineries in Galicia are making the most of the Albariño grape. All offered tastings with snacks. In one we bought a surprisingly good sparkling Albariño (who knew there was such a thing?!!!), cosmetics, and a wine reduction jam. In another, we bought a bottle of delicious Galician grappa called “Orujo.” In a third, we bought three bottles of phenomenal Albariño. For lunch, Juanjo offered a couple of options, and we opted for a “furrancho,” an informal family-run eating establishment where the draw is the home-made Albariño. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was homey (a family came in all dressed as cowboys and girls, as it was carnival season), and the Albariño served in traditional saucers/cups was surprisingly good. Along the way, we talked constantly about the history and culture of Galicia, the topography, land tenure, economics, etc. Juanjo would point out salient features and sites, and he offered a few stops that were great: the “lonxa” at Cambados, where we were able to see the fishermen’s catch before the daily auction and the church of St. James in Padrón (where St. James’ remains arrived in Spain). We were very lucky, as the church of Santa María de Iria Flavia, where Nobel Price literature winner Camilo Jose Cela is buried, happened to be open. We were also lucky, as the weather was sunny and cool—not what you’d expect in late February. Having said that, it was Juanjo who made the day. We had high expectations, and they were exceeded in every way.

        A great guide.
My wife and I like getting away from the beaten track when we visit a place. We could have taken a commercial tour, but we prefer going to the places that interest us. We found Juanjo to be just the man we were looking for. He was well reviewed on TripAdvisor. We contacted him several months before our ship was scheduled to arrive in Vigo. He was willing to put together a tour of the area that met our needs. His English is great. He had lived in the US for several years. He picked us up at the cruise dock as planned and took us to the older, more interesting parts of towns in the area such as Pontevedra. He explained how people used to live and what goes on now. He told us about the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela and what is it like to be on it. He introduced us to local foods and wines as we went, and when the small farmhouse restaurant he had reserved for lunch had changed their minds and closed, he found another one that provided a variety of enjoyable local dishes. He got us back to our ship on time, as he had promised. His services for the day were less expensive that any of the ship excursions available. And, he tailored the day to our desires. If we come to this area again, we are very likely to ask for him again.

        Enjoyed harvest in Ribera Sacra
I did two day trips with Juan: Salnès Valley (Albariño) & Ribeira Sacra. Both days we visited both boutique & larger wineries for tasting and visits. Juan will tailor his tours based on your interests. I’m a wine nerd so I enjoyed the visits with passionate winemakers making wines they love and involved at all levels of production. It was such a treat to experience harvest in both these wine regions of Galicia. In Salnès valley we made an unplanned stop to see the seafood auctions in Cambados. In Ribeira Sacra, we made stops at miradores to take in the grandiose and magnificent views. The lunch stops both days at small restaurants were also a true treat. Juan picks you up in a very comfortable Jeep & makes sure you are comfortable.

3 day food and wine tour Galicia
We really enjoyed our tour with Juanjo. We were able to visit a few boutique family run Bodegas/ wineries as well as eat like a local at places that we would not have known about had it not been for Juanjo's insider access and knowledge of the zone. He also Incorporated scenic and historic sites in our tour. He is very generous with his time. If was definitely a treat to have a private guide with knowledge of the area and a good working relationship with wineries thus insuring a memorable experience. We highly recommend visiting the Anadigna winery, it was probably our favorite, the winemaker was very generous with his time and the wine is excellent boutique wine. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of wine that we ordered this week after finishing our supply that we purchased during our tour.

        The best
Do you want to Know Galicia? This is the best guided tour. Juanjo is very kind and an expert in Monuments and also wineries! No doubt. I spent one week in Galicia, and two days tour with Tours of Galicia knowing historical towns, places, beaches and if you want to eat the best food you will go to the furanchos. Private houses located in little townships with the best and topical food and very good prices. Juanjo is an expert in this!

        Tour de Galicia
My husband and I were visiting Spain from the US, and made a trip up to Galicia from Madrid. We found Juanjo through a search online. He was a fantastic tour guide! He made it easy to meet up and get back to our hotel (we stayed in Santiago). He showed us several wineries and took us to a delicious lunch, all with a personal touch. We felt warmly welcome everywhere we went. He speaks excellent English and was able to translate into English when necessary during the day. Highly recommend!

5 stars in every respect. You can't go wrong. Treat yourself.
Took Tours of Galicia’s Costa da Morte tour and had a fantastic day out with Juanjo seeing things I could never have hoped to see exploring on my own. This is a full-day private tour packed full of surprising places, stories, history, information, culture, hidden gems, and insight into Galicia that few people will get to experience on their own. And a lovely lunch in Camariñas too. If you want the best out of your holiday to the region you really can’t do better than to take a tour with Juanjo. He is everything a tour guide should be and much more. You’ll be best buddies by the end of the day. Plus he speaks perfect English. If I could give him more than five stars I would. I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Treat yourself and book a tour, or ask Juanjo to tailor one to exactly what you're looking for. He's always happy to oblige. Nothing seems to be a problem for him.

Cannot recommend enough. Juanjo is charming and informative. We spendt a wonderful day with him touring Albarino, learning about the history of the region, including the fishing industry; Had a fabulous lunch at a private home turned restaurant. Would highly recommend for any Galicia related tours.

Juanjo is an joy to work with, he took us to three wineres and a lovely lunch under the vines. He is thoughtful and made a great itinerary for my partner and I. He helped me along with my mediocre Spanish and made the tour a highlight of our trip. I recommend him to anyone who wants to experience Albarino this way.

We did a full-day wine tour (in excellent English, which saved us from my terrible Spanish!) with Juanjo. First, the guy is a real pro - he's not just a driver like you might get on some other bigger-group tours, he's a true local who takes pride in giving his clients the best experience possible! He knows the whole area from top to bottom, and he evolved the tour throughout the day based on our conversations and interests. Of course we had some amazing wines in beautiful settings in a variety of different wineries (including access to people and places that we never could have gotten on our own), but the local knowledge, access to off-the-beaten-path sites, and of course the excellent lunch (along with tips on how it's prepared) were all special touches that made this a truly memorable experience. We look forward to getting back to the area again to book another trip!

Juanjo took us on an amazing tour of the Albariño wine region. He took us to four vineyards that were unique and each made Albariño in a slightly different way. They were not commercial wineries and each one had an owner/winemaker whose passion for making Albariño shown through in their product.

Juanjo took care and effort in selecting these places and really made the tour special. He has extensive knowledge of the region and was an excellent guide.

For lunch, he offered us several options and we went with a local restaurant in a seaside town that had excellent seafood and was a good break in between wine tastings. The Pulpa a feira was delicious.

I highly recommend Juanjo for a fantastic experience in Albariño wine country

Juan Jose was a great tour guide. We went to three very different wineries. He answered all our questions about the area and it's history. It was an all day tour and we learned so much not only about wine but the whole area in general. Highly recommend this tour
