Monisha Rajesh

Monisha Rajesh would like to tell you all the tales of her train travel. And she does so in three prized books, "Around India in 80 Trains" (2012), named one of The Independent’s top ten books on India, "Around the World in 80 Trains" (2019), National Geographic’s Travel Book of the Year, and "Epic Train Journeys" (2020). This lover of the railways has journeyed 45,000 miles by train — almost twice the circumference of the earth — and navigated across countries like Russia, Mongolia, North Korea, Canada, and Kazakhstan. Monisha graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Leeds and holds a postgraduate diploma in magazine journalism from the Department of Journalism at City University. She’s worked as a full-time journalist for The Week, a weekly news magazine in the UK, and has contributed to publications like Condé Nast Traveler, The Guardian, Travel + Leisure, The Times, and Telegraph. Monisha was born in Norfolk, England, and currently lives in London with her husband and two daughters.
