Happy birthday to Al Roker’s granddaughter, Sky!
“At 11:41 a.m., a year ago today, I got to fall in love all over again in a very special way,” TODAY co-host Al Roker wrote on Instagram July 3, tagging Sky’s parents, his daughter Courtney Roker Laga and son-in-law Wes.
“Thanks ... for the gift of this special girl, Sky,” Al wrote.
Al’s photo collage of the 1-year-old girl, set to Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely,” included Sky (and her tiny footprints) at various ages, wearing a TODAY onesie and held by her family members.
Of course, Al showed off photos of his special bonding time with Sky, in which he’s clearly in heaven.
Al has been cataloging Sky’s series of “firsts” from Christmas to Easter and everything in between.
In October, Al (aka, “Pop-Pop”) reviewed the fundamentals of infant care when he babysat Sky.
“I forgot how hard a 3+ month old is on your own. 24 hours without a shower. Whew,” Al wrote on Instagram. His greatest task: cleaning out Sky’s baby bottles.
“It’s been a while since I had this setup going on in the kitchen,” he continued. “Good to know I can still do this. Like riding a bike. But, I get to give the bike back to the owners.”
Not that Al is counting the minutes!
The first-time granddad is always thrilled to bank quality time with Sky, whether they’re playing, cuddling or making silly faces at home.
“Best #birthdaypresent,” Al wrote as an Instagram hashtag on Sept. 20, 2023 when he turned 69.
Now on Sky’s birthday, she’s the one with the best gift: A devoted and doting granddad.
