Soccer star Enzo Fernández has issued a mea culpa for singing racist and homophobic chants with his Argentinian teammates following their Copa América win over the weekend ... writing in a statement "there is absolutely no excuse" for the behavior.

The midfielder, who plays for Chelsea when he's not logging minutes on Argentina's national team, filmed himself and others on a bus crooning crass words about France after beating Colombia, 1-0, in Miami on Sunday.

A post-match altercation between two soccer clubs in Brazil escalated so quickly -- a policeman actually fired a rubber bullet at a player's leg from point-blank range ... and the wild scene was all caught on video.

It happened after a regional club match between Grêmio Esportivo Anápolis and Centro Oeste on Wednesday night. After Centro took home a 2-1 victory ... a scuffle broke out between the two sides, according to Brazilian newspaper Globo.

Video from the field shows some Colombian supporters were duking it out in the first rows of the venue with some Uruguayan fans ... when Núñez suddenly climbed up the railing and got involved in the fracas.

U.S. soccer fans are getting some interesting news on Wednesday -- Gregg Berhalter will reportedly not be returning to manage the Men's National Team after failing to advance out of the Copa América group stage.

Doug McIntyre of FOX Sports broke the news minutes ago ... saying the Red, White and Blue are going in a new direction with the position.

Berhalter was hired in 2018 after the U.S. failed to qualify for the World Cup that same year.
