Richard Spencer is China correspondent at The Times. He writes news, features and analysis on China and its global relationships. From 2016 to August 2023 he was Middle East correspondent for The Times, covering the fall-out from the Arab Spring across Libya, Egypt, Syria and Iraq, along with political, social and economic developments in the Gulf. He was previously news editor, China correspondent, Middle East correspondent and Middle East editor at The Daily Telegraph.
