Pyjama party

You know those mornings when all you want to do is stay in your pyjamas? Well, the good news is, this season you can. Pyjama dressing is a cute little trend that’s been bubbling under the fashion surface, and now, thanks to cool girls such as Lou Doillon, it’s set to be one of next season’s coolest looks. Let’s consider the upside: you get to wear comfy pants, relaxed tops and chic little flats. It’s louche and, done correctly, surprisingly sexy. Best of all, it’s a look that can be achieved with some simple rearranging of your existing wardrobe. Recycle a silk shirt or cami and wear it with silk trousers. Zara, Topshop and Cos are all getting in on the look, but Club Monaco has nailed it — as seen on la Doillon herself (centre, right), wearing Club Monaco (£170). Team it with the surprise shoe shape of the summer, the slipper, and you’re good to go. Easy on the accessories, though, or you risk coming over all Sienna Miller — not necessarily a good thing.

Blouse, £26, and pants, £40, from Zara. Brown pants, £170, by Club Monaco. Slip-ons, £35, from Asos. Kimono, £70, from Zara. Blue pants, £94, by MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela; my-wardrobe.com. Nude pants, £210, by Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti; my-wardrobe.com. Scarf, £75, by Alice by Temperley. White blouse, £30, from Zara.

Liv in Stella

Forget everything you think you know about Stella McCartney.

The lady’s gone all grown-up in her new role as the maestro of curvy-girl cutting. Look at Liv Tyler, right, in two of Stella’s curvalicious numbers. She’s taken a masters in 1970s high-octane glamour, working a look part vintage Yves Saint Laurent, part Jessica Rabbit. McCartney’s frocks have gone from tomboy to top girl in a matter of seasons. This oomphy number illustrates Stella’s understanding of the new rules of red-carpet dressing. Ten out of ten for this dress. Nipped in in all the right places, it’s a very clever use of fabric — the sheer back cleverly contrasting to give the impression of a smaller waist. We’ve always been big Tyler fans, but since she embraced her curves, we think it might be love.
