You, the editor

Sean Kelly, a student at University College Falmouth, reviews Saturday’s Times

I would question the choice of placing the story about banning cheap alcohol on page 3. There must have been something more newsworthy than the effect of expensive alcohol.

I have never liked articles about diets, so when I read Joanna Blythman’s piece in body + soul I wasn’t likely to be that interested. She stated that she had seen many health scares come and go, so I guess I will soon be reading (again) that red meat isn’t good for you.

I did, however, really enjoy the interview with Gareth Malone as I have a huge amount of respect for what he did with the Military Wives. I just hope that he doesn’t now become an overused commodity that results in his charity single becoming lost in a career of poor spin-offs.

I enjoyed Owen Slot’s piece on George North and rugby in North Wales. It’s amazing that a country with such a great history in the game hasn’t really had any kind of academy system in the north until recently. The article really shed a light on how brilliantly Wales have done without utilising all the country’s talented players.

Sticking with Wales, I liked Gerald Davies’s commentary and his comments on comparing Wales’ glory years and today’s crop of talent. Comparing two different teams from different eras, as Gerald Davies says, is a “futile exercise”.
