Yes: Fly From Here

This is not the edgy pioneering of early Yes, rather it’s the Buggles era with Trevor Horn as producer and pilot

In a world of change, it’s comforting that Yes, former titans of prog rock, still open an album with a six-part suite about reaching for the stars. But this is not the edgy pioneering of early Yes, rather it’s the Buggles era with Trevor Horn as producer and pilot. Both Buggles and Yes demoed the glossily romantic title song in the Eighties. The vocalist is Benoît David who, in the way of these things, was recruited from a tribute band to replace Jon Anderson. He does a decent job on songs that are efficiently catchy in an Eighties big-hair way. But next time ditch the flight manual and try some dangerous manoeuvres, chaps.
