Wrestlemania 21

THQ/Xbox (£39.99)

Move over, The Rock. Here comes the Demon Destroyer, a WWE wrestler custom-made to grind the toughest legends of the American ring into dust. However, despite having programmed my alter-ego wrestler to be full of slick moves, when push came to grapple, the fearsome combination of button pushing left me chewing the canvas. Frustrated, I retired to lick my wounds.

Wrestlemania 21 is graphically impressive and the options — from one- off bouts to championships, from tag teams to bra-and-pantie fights — are seemingly infinite, but wrestling fans will be disappointed by the vagueness of the controls, while Streetfighter types have far more fast-moving titles to choose from. An interesting failure.
