Forest fires engulf Chile
A forest fire on Chile’s Pacific coast has forced more than 7,000 people to flee their homes and could displace another 10,000. Firefighters were last night battling to contain the blaze, which threatens to spread to the cities of Vina del Mar and Valparaiso.
Ferry disaster
At least 34 people were killed and more than a dozen were missing after a crowded ferry carrying 216 passengers capsized off the coast of Burma on Friday.

Thousands of people of different faiths yesterday formed a human ring around the Copenhagen synagogue where a Jewish security guard was killed in a terrorist attack last month.
