Nuclear bomb threat
North Korea yesterday vowed to turn its plutonium stock into warheads and start enriching uranium to make more bombs in an act of defiance against United Nations sanctions. It is thought to have enough plutonium for about six nuclear devices.
Shuttle launch delayed
A hydrogen gas leak forced the space shuttle Endeavour's launch yesterday to be postponed by at least four days. In a 16-day mission Endeavour's crew of seven plan to deliver the final section of a lab to the International Space Station.

Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, 72, yesterday claimed to be the victim of anti-democratic "subversion" and denied having a sexual relationship with Noemi Letizia, an 18-year-old model, after his wife, who is seeking a divorce, accused him of "frequenting minors".
