Mladic is dead, wife tells court
Belgrade Europe’s most wanted war crimes fugitive, Ratko Mladic, is dead, his wife told a Belgrade court yesterday. Bosiljka Mladic, who is on trial for illegal possession of weapons, said: “If he is alive, he would have found ways to call us.” Weapons found in their Belgrade home in 2008 belonged to the former Serb general, she said. He had three strokes while hiding in Belgrade until 2001 and could not live without medical help, she said. (AP)

Rome Researchers seeking the remains of a woman said to be the model for the Mona Lisa are to dig up bones in a Florence convent. A death certificate found recently states that Lisa Gherardini, the wife of a rich silk merchant, is buried there. (AP)
