360 more UK troops for Iraq
Baghdad An additional 360 British soldiers will be deployed to southern Iraq during a planned handover between brigades (Ned Parker writes). The reinforcements, from a unit in Cyprus that is on call for short-term missions, will guard reconstruction projects and will include engineers, military police and Royal Marine commandos, Major Charlie Burbridge, the British military spokesman in Basra, said. They will go home “no later than January”, he added.

Jakarta The Indonesian Supreme Court has sentenced four more Australians to death for drug smuggling in Bali. Two members of the “Bali Nine” have been condemned to death and two sentenced to life. The ninth was jailed for 20 years. (AFP)
Britons killed
Two British holidaymakers - both women - died when their tour bus collided with a lorry in mountains near Huévar, west of Seville in Spain. Another British tourist was killed and two were hurt when a bus overturned near Suez in Egypt.
End to blockade
Jerusalem The sea and air blockade of Lebanon, imposed by Israel shortly after the start of the 34-day conflict erupted on July 12, will be lifted this evening, the Israelis said. They will leave their command posts, allowing international forces to take over. (AP)
