Iraqis finalise poll results

Baghdad: The final results of the Iraqi election were announced yesterday, with the Shia United Iraqi Alliance confirmed as the winners. The move starts the clock on the long-awaited formation of a new government. Of the 275-member parliament 128 seats have been taken by the Shia alliance, 53 by the Kurdish Alliance, 44 by the Sunni-led National Concord Front, and 25 by the Iraqi National List of Ayad Allawi.
