Phnom Penh: The Court of Appeal in Cambodia jailed a Dutchman for ten years for sexually abusing six boys aged 11 to 15, overturning a lower court’s dismissal of the case. René Aubel, 48, was found by police in May last year with two naked 13-year-olds. (AFP)

Delhi: Four men died at a railway station in the northern city of Kanpur from a heat wave that has killed more than 200 people across India and dozens in Bangladesh. Temperatures rose to more than 50C (122F). Monsoon rains brought some relief. (AP)

Cardinal Sin dies

Manila: Cardinal Jaime Sin, the influential spiritual leader who helped to topple the dictator Ferdinand Marcos, died in hospital aged 76. He died of multiple organ failure after a struggle with kidney problems and diabetes. (AFP)

Army plans ‘peace zone’
