CHARLOTTE DICKENSON will be the England manager for the summer series against Australia, which begins in August. Neil Rider has stepped down from the post to concentrate on his county commitments with Hampshire.

Last year, Laura Newton’s V Team won the mini Twenty20 tournament at Hampshire’s Rose Bowl and they defended their crown at Uppingham School last weekend by going unbeaten in their three matches. Rain cut the scheduled eight games to six and only the Braves, led by Clare Connor, the England captain, failed to register a win.

Jenny Gunn was one of several England players to shine, although the all-rounder’s 46 and two for 20 for the Super Strikers was not enough to stall the V Team’s progress. Katherine Brunt, from Yorkshire, who made her international debut last season, responded with three for 14, while Newton followed her first half-century of the summer with two for 19.

Charlotte Edwards continued her prolific run of form by making 88 for the Knight Riders against the Braves and Isa Guha, who had captured four for 25 against the Braves on the opening day, took two of the Super Strikers’ scalps on Sunday.

The final round of Super Fours matches takes place next weekend at Loughborough University.
